Ok I know what you mean by stacked nodes. I have a good idea of what I want to accomplish now and maybe I will move the lights a full 12" away (at the furthest) since you and Event Horizan are so damn sure lol

so what is it that you are trying to accomplish....what is the goal

so the chart isnt wrong per se
we are just "more right"

you want your plants to grow
....your plants arent growing....if you move the leaves your plant is "stunting" stacking node on top of each other....you dont want that.....when you hear the phrase ....."stacked nodes" it is refering to flower when your plant has tightly stacked nodes for flowers

right now you are building branches which come from nodes in veg
since cfls are mostly blue wavelength which promotes vegetation and you have them sitting on top of the plant....it is just gonna grow leaves and not grow up...not good

if you back you light away
you are partially correct...the plant wont be getting optimal light saturation....but....there is enough light for your plant to grow up to get that saturation

kinda like putting a doughnut on a string and makin a fat kid chase it
once you are done the kid is a little thinner
if you just let the kid get it without chasin it
the kid just keeps growin sideways
make sense

maybe that didnt

but if you dont move you lights up now....you plant is pretty much dont growing....it will change its hormone balance and "dud out"
Great analogy with the fat kid and the donut. Lol

Seriously my foot comes down here. This is reasonable

Good move. :)
My 2 cents...I consider myself a pretty smart guy. (On limited subjects). But only because I am in the habit of hanging out with people much smarter than myself. Which forces me to constantly expand my knowledge just to fit in. I don't just blindly believe what others say but I do try to listen to those with more experience. Luckily I'm not one who needs to make all the mistakes myself. I try to learn from other people's mistakes. My point is that I gravitated to this thread because of the knowledge here. Not only are Eevent and Wisher knowledgeable they are willing to share that knowledge. We can all be better farmers by absorbing there fine words of wisdom

lolololol,
Im sorry but they really need to go up another foot!

Im over here rolling with Wishers analogies!

Shit that was good shit!

How the fuck do I go on stage after that performance!

Brother I got a 150 watts on 2 plants 2 feet tall
3- 52 watt t5 bulbs
Your lil plants are not using 1/10 of the light you got on them!

sorry guys to dip out the conversation for a bit. my daughters texting with her monthly "everything sucks" messages, so i get back lil later!

MOVE THEM LIGHTS UP!
Here homie here is my deal, if you move them up,
and they die because of it,
I will send you a free pack of my purple Urkle seeds!
Trust me now?

Good move. :)

By the way...thank you Event and Wisher for all your help! And to everyone else who offers their wisdom freely. I am truly grateful :)

For sure brother!
Appreciate the love!
But I have no choice,
When wisher was teaching me he said,
Just pass it forward!'
And I do...

200+ watts for CFL's is crazy to me

this light you would need to be sitting 36" away from the plants with 1000ppfd
basically the sun
See that graph is taking into account of JUST 1 cfl per what ever sq foot..
But his lil setup of cfl's cause a way bigger heat buildup,
exponentially increasing the heat output..
Your analogy of the sun is right on !
Them lights sholuld be 15 inches to 24 inches,
low side with Ac and good circulation,
and high side with his set up...

Newbies always think 3 things...
needs more water.
needs more food
needs more light...

And those 3 things always get them hemmed up...

Those 3 things kicked my ass for years. I'm still working on light intensity... :/
