Okay well first off I'm an aspiring grower and I've been debating on wether or not I should grow in my basement or my garage. I'm trying to keep the basment for family related stuff so I'm looking more towards the garage as of this point. I have a pretty nice area 16x12 but , I'm only working with 6 foot tall ceilings which is a concern to me, is this going to be a problem with yields and the full life of the plant if I train them more outwards to keep them from being to close to my lights? If it is going to be a major issue I'd rather know now then b in over my head a month down the road! Thank u very much for ur responses and remember I'm the new guy okay ha

A decent grower can keep their plants in that height range, however basements usually have far better temperatures than a garage. You in a warm area? Gonna rig up an extra 300w+ to cool that garage? 6' ceilings can be hard to work with also. Your light is gonna take up a foot if it's on anything and 6" just stuck to the roof. It can be done and people do well in similar but short ceiling, wide area, doesn't line up well with indoor growing naturally. In the end, the choice is yours but depending on your garage, garages can be nightmares or easygoing.

You can train a plant to grow 100% sideways. And just have the bud shoots going up so 6 ft is good. It'll be a little more work but not too much. A garage will need a/c and heat. Unless you use hud than heat won't be needed. Is it at all insulated? If you go garage I'd use old school halide and hps lights. But you could run led or whatever you prefer. Just keep temps in mind as winter will be here eventually. And humidity levels. Get a little hygrometer. $10. And don't put the pots on cement floor. Trashed pallets will keep it up. You don't want it cold at the roots. Idk which method (soil, hydro, etc ) you plan to go. Either spot can work great. Wish I had a garage to use in stuck in a 4x4 for now.

you could do a manifold and get great results,at least in the garage you wont have co2 problems,,but a rule of thumb is the plant will stretch 1 1/2 times the size when in flower,so if you got 5ft cause lighting at 15 to 18 in tall throw in flower and by end results you should have room for light were it dont burn you up,,train them to bush, pinching ,topping, bending,,scrog net would work well too,,but as the other folk say,,winter is coming,,i dont have that problem cause were im at,winter is 3 weeks long, hahah,,but ya can be done,,but ya gotta stay on top of the training
