The bucket:
the 1/2" inlet connector hole will be drilled using an 1-1/4" hole saw 1 1/2" to the center of the hole above the bottom edge of the bucket. the hole is then deburred, nilon tape wrapped around the threads, one rubber washer on the inside, push the connector through the hole from inside the bucket, one washer on the out side, then crank down the nut.

I then do the same thing on the opposite side with the 3/4 connector but this connector will be 7 1/2" from the bottom to the center of the hole.

I then plug the connector ends, fill with water and see if they leak...View attachment 703914

I line up the holes with the handle so that I know the two connectors will be directly opposite from each other. I hang the string just so I can line the hole up with the handle.

h4ppyf4rmer we are thinkin alike I am doing a DIY 12 COB light and a DIY RDWC for my next grow I will be doing an under current RDWC system tho. It will be a 6 site system using under current design such as this one

I do like the undercurrent design, it's more of a water pull versus a water push system. I didn't know about this design before I started my designing... one thing I worry a little about the UC system is the distribution of nutrients moving up the buckets, it's probably fine though.
Hands down UC is the best! The current can completely change the fluid in a 18 bucket system every 3.5 mins... It dont get much better than that unless you want to go aeroponics

I like your system.. I seen the oem ones. Your looks pretty damn close! You got a decent sytem!

Once my bloom tent is done being used as a drying tent(next week), I'm going to make a couple of changes. I'm going to add another 1/2" feed line off of a tee from the pump to even the distribution of the feed. I'm also going to add something to straighten out the return lines because the distance between the buckets a pretty long and the return lines droop.

Added a Tee to split the flow to the last bucket to even out the water distribution. also added ball valves to allow for more control.

added a PVC pipe as a stiffener to stop the sagging of the returns between the buckets to help the return flow....

The 6" vortex fan installed, what a pain in the ass with all the lights in the way. Not sure about the intake routing of the 6" hose for optimal cooling... I'm currently letting the lights heat the tent and see if this fan will get rid of some of the heat

so after running my lights and having the new fan running, I see no difference in the temps... I'm sure the air exchange is better, I have some good negative pressure in the tent. I can feel the air being sucked into the open vent.
hrmmmm, I was hoping for better heat reduction,,,

I'm sure they are but you're going to hang one of them in a 4x4 or 4x8 tent... he's gone total commercial grower at this point.

Prob should of went 6" 440 cfm with the leds for a 4x8..
Ive been there!
You can use the little one to bring in cool air from outside at night.
put a temp controller on them and it will turn the fans on and off.
run your lights at night cause your air is cooler at night.
