I've got some gnats and despite the fact they aren't affecting my plants and my plants are perfectly healthy with no rot, they are still annoying. A friend who grows with soil recommended Mosquito Dunks and I was just wondering if anyone else in here has used them in their UC before. I figure because it's some bacteria that kills flies I'd drain my UC, fill it, use dunks for a couple days and then add food and bleach. I assume when I bleach (pool shock) it'll just kill the bacteria.
Always open to other suggestions too.
Thanks crew.

Can you explain !!!!!!!!

i guess its more of an apple cider vinegar trap.. copy & pasted off of a website:

"This is usually the go-to method for people who want to rely on homemade techniques. For this method, you will need some apple cider vinegar, sugar, dish soap, water, and a container. In the container, mix two tablespoons of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of sugar, a few drops of soap, and 1 liter of water. Mix it well then place the container around the area where you see the most gnats. The insects get attracted to the smell of cider vinegar then succumb to their death when they touch the liquid mixture because of the soap. You may want to set up several small containers around the house to get a better idea of where the gnats are breeding."

To add to this you can cover the dish with a piece of saran wrap with one hole (about the size of your finger tip) in it so they climb in but makes it impossible to climb out.

Im not using this e

I've used mosquito dunks and bits in the UC. I thought they worked great. No more gnats/ larvae in a week

I used about 1/4 of a dunk in 100 gal system. Bits maybe 1/2 of a cap full. If you read the label I believe the bits are for "quick" results and the dunks are more for maintaining. Don't quote me on that though. It's been a couple years since I've needed them @Highatollah
