Sry im late as fuck but I would of suggested a bigger tent.. The light is gonna heat up that tent, its short and the buckets also take up room.
So can you even get all 4 buckets in there? plus the epicenter..
Im pulling for you!

Yeah, the bigger tent will come next grow. For SURE! You're the 3rd or 4th person to mention the size of it. I can fit four buckets in there, I posted a pic earlier in the thread. The air pump will be outside tent likely. Plenty of room for it inside if need be. I just decided late night Thursday that I'm going back down to 2 plants this grow to accommodate tent size a bit more. This tent will likely become clone/seedling tent.

How do you plan to change the water, check the ph, ppm? of a dwc bucket in scrog?
U need it to be recirculating.
You just have 4 buckets and the air pump rh?
link me to your system..

I posted an equipment list and appended list earlier in the thread which will provide more info on what I explain next. Nutes will be transferred out/in via transfer pump. It is a decent one so transfers should be fast. Scrog nets will slide easily up/down the tent poles for checking on roots. Will have to be careful not to harm plants, but have to do that anyway when checking on roots in general with DWC. PPM/PH/etc will be taken with the combination of handheld meters, PH kit, droppers, etc. I mean that is my current, humble plan.

Oh BTW... my next QUESTION:

So my tent has a ~4" x 7" opening with a screen (I can post a pic if there is interest) at the bottom of both sides of it. It also has holes for running ducts out both sides as well. For my passive intake do you think opening both the screened openings will suffice or should I do a short run of the duct on both sides?
How much light is in the room when the tent is sealed up and in dark period?

How big is the room the tent is in? Are you exhausting in the room the tent is in? If so What's the air exchange like in that room?

Intake should be bigger then exhaust. 6" exhaust 8" intake.

Your fan would perform best attached to the filter.

*active intake. If you have a sealed tent and using a fan on the exhaust, then it's also pulling air in.

Height shouldn't be an issue when running scrog in a tent that's five feet tall.

2 plants would yield more, your veg time will be longer but you'll have a greater root mass which supports bigger yield.

I'd go with one scrog net.

If you focus on yield too much you're likely gonna have more issues. My buds are growing slow, maybe I'll add this and that or what's this lil bit of yellow on my leaf I need this or maybe this.. these are some examples of wanting to do more..etc
But you'll end up reducing yield and creating problems.

If it's your first grow, my advice would be to observe, take notes, be patience, when you feel like you wanna do more (Cause you will!) Grab a book and read while hanging out with your plants. Something like how plants work.

this is all IMO

you dont slide scrog nets up and down during flower.. Scrogging in Dwc with only a buckets worth of nutes that you have to control every day is not childs play.. Along with your lack of room, it will become very packed in there.

My advice is to but a recirculating water farm kit. You need a drill and bit, and the kit, and another 5 gal bucket with lid, (brand new ) (home depot).
Are you any good with your hands? Diy?

here is the kit..
https://www.amazon.com/General-Hydroponics-WaterFarm-Circulating-Upgrade/dp/B0032JWODM

u could even buy the stuff separately for cheaper..

You will see that I did that to 8 buckets...
hook up with me homie I want to help you out..

@brazel I hadn't even thought about the flowering phase vs light in via the screens. Not sure about how much light yet. Should try and test that. Either way, I'll likely run some ducts instead. Love your grow and learn philosophy.

@EventHorizan Good shit. Thanks for the link to the kit. Here is the DWC system I purchased: . I'm assuming this kit should be compatible. I'm pretty good at DIY, getting better every day. I read. Research. Watch a lot of videos, etc. Find what I feel works for my sitch and then go at it informed.

So with the kit, I'd mix nutes in the extra bucket which is tied up to the system and it gets circulated out to the sites? Just to be sure I'm envisioning the scenario correctly.

yes exactly.. And the other bucket that doesnt hold a plant, is called the EPICENTER..
That is where you test ph,ppm, and add nutrients.. That way you dont have to move the plants. You showed 3 buckets in the tent in one of your pics. That is what I would do,
BUT ONLY the 2 of them are grow buckets and the other is a epicenter.
You can even put a 27 gal tote outside the tent and install a auto top off vallve in the epicenter so the tote feeds the epicenter, and keeps your water levels perfect right at bottom of net pots..
This is what I do bro..

My system now is way more advanced than what I started with..

Yeah, just reading the description you wrote, and the pics, I can easily see how that is a big upgrade to what I was going to do. Big ups on your grow homie. Looks on point.

So yeah, thinking...

Three 5 gals in the tent (two sites, 1 epicenter). 27 gal tote w/ auto top off valve outside as that sounds amazingly convenient for 1000 different reasons. @EventHorizan Do you have a link to the type of valve and hardware I'd need for the tote and perhaps a pic of one setup? I'm trying to organize a shopping list for a hardware/hydro store run.

Dude foreal scrogging is the way to go but it's a goddam struggle in dwc. You have to push the lid one way and the bucket the other way so the damn plant stays center lol. Good thing I only have one that I'm scrogging

Yeah, you see it is one of those things with the net. Once I saw these guys mention it, I was like DUH! But it was an oversight I hadn't considered for sure. Do you have a system like they're recommending to me @RHINObeast or are you lifting your nets each time? And thanks for the tip on lifting with a net, because I do plan on checking on the roots.

I slide the lid away from me while I slide the bucket towards me, there's enough for my ph and Ppm meter to get in there
you guys need to get the kit.. You have no idea how much easier your life will be
PLUS PLUS PLUS, you only got to ph that 1 bucket, cause it controls all the rest..
man you gain 15% more yield just from keeping all the buckets stable..
