I think it is bro. But that’s ok! Many ways to skin a cat.

I know you’ll fall over in your chair but I’m going to be trying a mixture that mixes 1 part coco 1 part FFOF and 1 part grow stones.
A while back I wouldn’t consider it but I’ve seen results and heard reasons why said results work. The key is still being able to feed hourly. It will be a side by side of the same known clone so we can see exactly any difference. It will be on the same drip as the rest so the only difference will be the mix.

This will really help to show any difference. Everything will be 100% exactly the same wxcept the mix.

Everyone will learn from it
The fox farm will make them water log if you don’t adjust the feedings.IMO ditch the fox farm and stick to coco and grow stones. If anything add casting to the coco.

It’s gnomes mix bro. Talked to him a lot abot it. Before I WOULD NEVER have put ffof in my Coco. But results are r silts and I’m willing to try things to see what it’s aboit. I won’t overwater them just to stick to it but once the roots fill out I’m hoping the watering will be able to handle the multiple feedings. It’s a test.

I grow straight Coco and love it but not scared to try new things to see how it works.

You've saved me money and time. Priceless info thanks. @EventHorizan @Wisher619 @Thejoeybrown @incogneato
I'll give you a shout when I catch up.. few more weeks yet!
Damn, i haven't even read the whole thread! Impressive really! Its become some kind of initiation round here lol. Dont be shy to ask questions before you get to the finish line though. I think event needs to get some pins made up or something for anyone that can get through the whole thread with their sanity in check hahaha.

I ran one plant in 40/40/20 fox farm/coco/perlite. It ran alot like promix honestly, just didnt hold water as long which was nice. Im sure you'll kill it Joey, you got a green thumb for sure.

Thanks brotha. Yea like I said I never would have thought to mix coco and a peat mix together. But I’m open minded. Haha. I’m curious to see any difference. I will have to watch the watering but once the roots fill the pot it should be able to handle multiple waterings. Maybe not. But I will be able to see any difference.

I’m not planning on. Changing my style at all just looking to learn more first hand. Too much going off what others say so I want to see it for myself.

well its pretty open and for what you got, so that is fine..
Is this an auto? No?

If not, next time instead of trimming all leaves but the top 2,
instead only snip off the top 2, wait a week and repeat trimming off the new top 2...
Wait a week, and flip...
2 weeks after flip remove all bottom leaves except for the top 3-4 leaves..
Tell me what you think between each method,
and which way you liked best..

jesus gets high

ill try that next, thanks for the info.

Nah it doesn't work for shit haha.

Believe it or not its really a very well aerated mix. For tbe size plants i grow and the volume of soil i use i am able to water fairly frequently. Ime, it dries out much quicker than str8 coco fer sure.

Imo, castings wud make em water logged b4 ffof wud...

Thats exactly what i intended when i came up w the mix. Its not unlike roots organics 707 which also contains a mix of coco n peat. It's just aerated better due to the higher ratios of perlite n growstones.

Not only that but unlike roots organics 707 it has all the goodies from the ffof. Apparently, (like me) the ppl at aurora dont think mixing peat n coco is that crazy either

No I think its great to try new methods, but there is certain parameters that need to be met.. Its all about feeding and that o2... Im really intrigued to see how it does... Should work great as long as he doesnt water log the root crown..

THE FUCKING CHAIR BROKE.. IM OUT!!!

Ok im back,, ha
Go for it homie...
What PH are you gonna give it? Ph perfect so it doesnt matter if is 5.8 hydro or 6.4 soil eh?
5.8. Well I may set to 6.0 but the same as I do in Coco. Per recommendation of the person who’s mix it is. Hahah.

No I’m gonna give Cns. I want to do everything the same as my others so I see if there is any difference.

We will see about it drying faster than straight Coco! Hahahaha. If that’s the case watwring frequency won’t be an issue. You know my favorite thing is more feedings and more o2. If it drys as quickly as you say we shouldn’t have an issue doing a true side by side!

I cant imagine it drying faster than coco but when the roots fill out the pot it should be about the same speed tho. I gotta agree with @Ggnome on the ffof, its not a mucky mix, shouldn't really water log with the coco and grow stones. Im just going by the mix i used but its almost the same. I used medium chunk perlite, coco and ffof. A little ewc too. All that said i still love the speed and simplicity of straight coco. So now i have a giant bag of perlite sitting around for nothing lol.

Just a sprinkle of castings is no biggie. Coco + growstones or chow balls FTW! Ph 5.8 end of story. Ya heard it hear first the plants will not suck at the same rate. That was my only point. Can it work, sure.:smoking:
