Since the purple kush turned males I did some upgrading in the room and have added an additional 400w for flowering. I obtained 4 beautiful LA Chocolate clones last week end and have put them into 3 gal hempy buckets. Feeding GH nutrients this grow and that's about it. Here's the specs of my grow and hope you enjoy the show!

Room: 6'tall x 6'across x 4' deep
Lighting: 400w mh for veg 400hps with a second 400w hps for a total of 800w!!
Pot size: 3 gal
Medium: perlite/vermiculite mix
Nutrients: GH flora series
Ventilation: 100w 6" can fan with 12" carbon filter

Hello and good morning. Been a few days since I updated and things have progressed nicely since. I’ve been feeding full strength for a week now and they seem to be loving it. Still waiting on my cal mag to come in but not sure they need it just yet.

The last two pics are after I tied them down and about 48hrs after. Lots of branches and bud sites on each so it should be a good turn out!! Question for anyone tho. Has anyone grown this strain (LA Chocolate) before? How was the stretch? Yield? Any info would be great!! Stay tuned as I’ll be flipping to 12/12 soon!

Growing like weeds!! What a smell these girls have too. Combination of minty gas and fresh ground coffee! Thinking I’ll guve them one more week of veg time and flip to flower.

Again has anyone grown this strain before? Any insight to what I could expect would be greatly appreciated!

Hey folks time for a little update on the La Chocolates. They are loving their nutrients and with the addition of some cal-mag they’ve exploded.

Also tied the girls down and flipped the lights to 12/12!!!! Let the show begin

Looking good do you plan on defoliating at some point?

Looking good do you plan on defoliating at some point?

Thanks for stopping by @REDiJEDi160. I never have defoliated my plants much before as I was taught many moons ago leaves are life lines. Buuuuut seeings as I have a ton of leaf and many blocked bud sites I may consider. Do you have any pointers on defoliation you could pass along?

Oh and how's the smell did it evolve?

Smell is addicting. Very pungent strong earthy skunk with subtle yet noticeable amounts of over ripe fruit and coffee grounds. Probably one of my favourite top 3 smelling strains I’ve grown so far.

That sounds wonderful! I haven't been lucky enough to get any coffee smelling plants.
Yes your leaves are like power plants for your plant but just like regular non cannabis plants deadheading helps redirect nutrients to flowers that will be your real producers. I usually just trim the bottom bullshit off since it won't get light anyway

Note taken. My lights come on in a little over an hour so I will sterilize my snips and open them up. Thank you for the advice and stay tuned for a quick update once they’re clipped. Thanks again

Ok @REDiJEDi160 here are the girls after a healthy clipping. So glad I took your advice and clipped all that junk away as the leaves were so congested I had powdery mildew!

Also have a question if I may. I noticed some reddening on my leaf stems a few days ago which has been nothing new or ever major concern but now it’s spreading into the leaf veins themselves. I’m wondering if I have a deficiency or lock out now??

I use General Hydroponics flora 3 part series as per manufacturers direction (with minor adjustments as the plants tell me if they need more or less). My schedule is feed, feed, plain water, feed, feed, plain water etc. I have been ph’ing to around 5.6-5.8. 3 days ago I dropped my ph meter and busted the bulb in it so the last 2 feedings I didn’t ph my water.
My last 3 grows in the same medium and nutrients were never ph’d and life was good. Could I be worrying too much or does the redness call for alarm?

Thanks again for your help and if anyone else has advice my ears are open.

Could be lock out or phosphorus deficiency. When I notice problems arising I always run a flush first. With hydro things can get out of whack quickly. I have not had that problem though at least not that I've noticed

They look much better after that cleanup though! Trimming them up also allows for good circulation

WEEK 3 of flowering. I’ve got a couple questions if I may.

#1) what does everyone use for powdery mildew? I just can’t seem to shake it. I’ve used peroxide and milk in the past but this time it just won’t stay away for more than a few days? Humidity is about 38%
2 10” in take fans for fresh air and
4 inch inline exhaust fan. Temps are 22c with lights on 19c off

Question #2. Up until 3 days ago my plants smelled amazing! Skunky coffee goodness. Today? Not so much. Smells more like grass or weeds than the normal. I can list more grow info if you need and thank you in advance!!

How did it go?

Over fed them way too young. Fought powdery mildew the whole way. I was lucky to get what I did. After 8 years of the hempy bucket grows I’ve retired them and have rekindled my love connection with Dwc lol.

Hey for all your problems you got some decent bud there friend. I’m a high drainage peat/perlite/wee bit of soil kinda guy but trying a few hempies for the first time. Would you not recommend? The pm can’t be blamed on hempy but would you tell a brother to skip it and try dwc or flood and drain table instead?
