I've been reading about harvesting and trying to decide if I should cut down the plant or do the canopy first and then the remaining as needed.

What does everyone here do and what has been the positives vs. the negatives?

I’ll be following this.

I’m facing the same dilemma. I was planning on harvesting the top buds first and leaving the bottom buds to mature a little longer. I figure it can’t hurt because either you harvest all at once and risk the lower buds not being potent or you harvest top half first and risk stressing the plant so much that it hermies. Either way the bottom buds are useless which is why I am taking the risk and harvesting top first, bottom later.

Those bottoms should have been removed. Lollipop for increased vigour and size of tops.

You can get two levels even with lollipoping considering growth patterns between different branches.

My current grow and that wasn't the question. By the way you didn't answer the question. Not to mention not everyone grows the same or view different options similarly.

Commercial type growers cut the whole plant because they want to reset the room. When it comes to the regular personal grower.. A lot of them will harvest the colas then give the bottom another week or 2 to let the rest of the plant mature

I had the same problem before I had enough flower to last "forever"..now I take the whole plant..keep tops for smoke..and the rest goes to the hash/butter bin.

Pretty much same here... The extra 1 or 2 weeks wait would cut into my next veg time.

Personally I harvest the whole plant and hang the whole plant until it's semi dry then trim and into paper bags for a few days until it's time to jar.Any fluff and scuff is used for bubble hash.Works well for me.
