Morning! Need some advice please!
Asked a friend to buy some coco coir for me for some coco hempies.
He brought me what you see in the photo cuz i told him to make sure it was the coco coir with hairs. The other option he saw was coco peat that had no hairs/fibers so he took my directions to the word.
Can i use this fiber or should i buy the coco pest and mix it in or just use the coco peat even if it doesnt have fibers/hairs???
Thanks for any input!

Char Coir is the way to go. Apparently you need to teach your friend how to shop.... or just do it yourself

Yes you can use it, no problems. Coco peat is a preferred medium for many.
I use CANNA Coco Coir, there are several different types of Coir in the range. Professional, Organic, Standard & a beginner Coir.
50L costs between £12 & £16 ,
You can pay the same for 10L.
EBay or Canna.com.
Definitely the easiest medium to keep ph & other nutrients level.
Good Luck, remember to soak before planting, and can be flushed & reused.
Best of luck.

:D I agree, won't be sending him again! The nursery is just so far away.... Lazy me!

If i had access to Canna I would get it (or Char Coir), but price just blows up when I include import fees and all that to my country. So, i have to settle with what i can find here while i become rich ;)
I had used coco peat before several times and was happy with it but noticed it had hairs/fibers in it. Never tried hariless/fiberless coco peat. And according to my friend there are no middle point available right now. I think I will get some and do a side by side: hairless coco peat vs only hair coco fiber vs a mix of both! Will share once i do it!

Thanks alla for the input!

If you're limited with your options and need to use what you have there you could literally toss that fiber into a blender for a quick hit or even chop it up with a weed whipper or something of the like to get a finer consistency

I went to the nursery myself, they had a nice coco peat, not so many hairs as the coir I used to use a few years back, but it has some. Didn't try to give back the fiber... I found several uses for it in my home garden, and I also considered something along the way of what DetGrnThumb said. I might take a bit of the fiber and put it in the blender to add to this coco peat if i see it needs some additional aeration.

As long as you have the ability to provide multiple waterings daily (simple irrigation system with a large enough reservoir) you can never have too much aeration

I would definitely give that a good rinse its probably loaded with salt plus i bet it has no buffer. If you have an ec meter catch some of the rinse water and check it

That's a pretty difficult place to get weed mediums I'd have thought.
There must be some really suitable soil, which obviously isn't what you want, however, using perlite could be a solution, tho I reckon the Boss will know better.
Fabric pot are excellent retaining & root pot.
However, if you're going large scale hydropnic system, ignore this amateurish growerr, . learning loads here, itsi great to have experienced expert tips ❤️✌️
