Pgrs...looking For Insight

PGRs (Plant Growth Regulators) have piqued my curiosity lately and I'm hoping that someone that is somewhat familiar with them will chime in.
My last grow included Black Diesel, which was a great plant but because it is so short and bushy, I was having difficulty in getting enough light thru the canopy to get to the inner sites. My Sativa plants have a great yield due to the height, which in turn promotes side growth (I'm using a 8' tall room, not a tent. If I could get the Black Diesel to stretch (Gibberellic acid?) a foot more than it normally does, I would probably increase yield by 2-3X. I guess there is also the opposite compound that tends to crunch things together. I know some of these materials are in some nutrient products, but does anyone have direct experience with specific actions, like my Black Diesel idea?
Any and all help is appreciated.

My first foray into using them on Cannabis has been with Massive from green planet which has both gibberellin and triacontanol. And just recently.

I think it's working big time to do exactly what you're looking for. My Bubba has zero stretch naturally and as a result the buds stack very densely and dont fill out like they could. With massive I got the perfect amount of stretch so I'm curious to see how it affects yield.

Here is my bubba currently. Normally, those buds are stacked on top of each other. Wish I had a better pic from a different grow before using massive. But I can tell you it's never done this.. This is the same top, first pic is a week after the first dose of massive. I had to take a pic because I was shocked by the stretch. Second pic Is one week later. Its stopped stretching and is starting to fill out. FWIW the purple petioles are a common trait with this plant, it's not K def.

Gibberellic acid will help for sure but if over applied the plants will stretch too much and the buds will stretch like crazy also.

Brassinolide would also help. It's plant steroid. :)

Big time, in like 2 days as well. It was a drastic noticable change almost immediately. You normally dont see more than half inch or so of stem between buds with that top. They're easily a foot taller than normal.

Brassinolide would work too, it's similar to triacontanol in how it affects the plant as a hormonal steroid. TRIA seems to be more commonly used though for some reason.
I'm pretty sure one of those two is the secret ingredient in Canna boost.

And youre right you dont want to overdo it with gibberellins, but used at a responsible dose it shouldn't stretch branching once flowering is well underway, It will instead cause rapid flower bract production and lengthening allowing the individual calyxs to swell to their max potential as well.

It sounds interesting. I have a lot of headroom, but the couple of new hybrids (New to me)...Black Diesel and Train Wreck, are way too short for my preferences, I usually go to 6-7 ft with some old landrace strains and the new ones are too short. I get a nice canopy, but I get a nice canopy AND a great side growth with my setup and Sativas...but with the hybrids, the light can't get in because of the density. If I could carefully get them to stretch a foot or two before flowering, I would have the result I'm looking for.

I get a nice canopy, but I get a nice canopy AND a great side growth with my setup and Sativas...but with the hybrids, the light can't get in because of the density. I'd recommend giving massive a go. I have pretty much the same issues, I'm only running 2 strains right now, bubba and platinum cookies. The pgsc is a huge plant but the bubba is a squat indica that usually just crowds itself and doesnt get nearly as tall so I used to have to prop them up and pull a lot of leaves off.

This run they are pretty much even in height. Interestingly the cookies is growing much more vigorously although it didnt stretch nearly as much as the bubba, so I wonder if it has more of a stretching effect on plants that lack the pre-existing abundance of auxins already. Not sure but I'm finding this to be a neat experiment. Both strains are leaps ahead in terms of bud development also for this stage. A lot more white hairs and you can notice growth every day.

A couple observations I've made is they are a lot more hungry than normal. And I mean a lot, 2 days after my plain water cycle they looked pale, so i fed them 1.8 and they greened right up but honestly look like they could take more. The increased metabolism and Co2 utilization from the tricontanol means they need more food than they otherwise would. It's like a bodybuilder taking steroids, they can eat like 10000 calories a day and it doesnt make them get fat sick and die, they just build more muscle. I think it works sort of in the same way, but in plant terms.. Along those lines of thinking they can probably handle very intense light also.

Brassinolide is a totally different thing, though I'm curious, I don't know a lot about its use on cannabis. It's normally used on cereal crops but those results are pretty striking. I'd be curious to know the safety for use on cannabis.
