How many plants should go in a 3x3 Scrog’d to maximize yields with room for fan/humidifier?

Hey guys,

I’m a relatively new grower wanting to expand my sources of information to become a better grower. Found myself coming to this site quite often, and thought I would make my own little dent here. I just upgraded from a 2x2x4 to a 3x3x6 tent space. I have a young Purple Dawg Mass, by Critical Mass Collective, only a couple weeks in from seed and thriving. This is an organic living soil grow, and will be using compost tea to activate the flower soil mix. She’s right now under a 100w equivalent LED during the first few weeks of veg. Once she starts needing some light penetration I’ll be switching on my 600w LED dual function BestVA grow light. The breeder for this strain said that FIMing w/ LST will maximize the yields best by his experience. I haven’t FIM’d before, only topped. So waiting for the next node to come in to give it a shot. Any advice on FIMing, setup, SCROGing 3x3 for one plant, or anything constructive will be greatly appreciated. Photo of the plant was taken today (Day 18 since sprout)

Welcome friend. Nice little plant and setup. Not sure if you are aware but that 600 is actually 125 real watts. You will ultimately want about twice that much in your 3x3. Will do the trick in the meantime tho. Seems like a decent cheap cheap light. Reviews are quite good. If you decide to upgrade, ask around on here. There are some folks who are just nutty for leds and know pretty much all there is to know about em. Doesn’t cost much more to get the most efficient cobs and quantum boards and that and you’ll be super pleased with em

I didn’t think of the true watt on that note. I was looking at Electric Sky 180’s (300 being too long) as a nice upgrade when I have the financial comfort. I’ll definitely ask around on a better light before I make that purchase. Really appreciate the insight brotha!

No prob man. I use t5 s and hps mostly myself but the vero and cree Cob leds are cool. If you got a cheap 400-600w hps for that 3x3 you’d be rockin. They are almost free these days. 315 w cmh would be perfect in there but they are a tad pricey at least where I’m at.
Good luck on your grow bro

Fwiw I have one room with 4. 600 par viparspectrums..all my rooms have 4 plant 6×6..I stuggle to cover with the small viparspectrums, they would cover a 5×5 better..I think you would have to have two lights to get great coverage and over lap, scrog at 12"..

Welcome to the farm @SaintNugs, plant looks good. As far as training I like to scrog, not too abusive of the plant, top after a few more nodes. Then when under your netting bend the tops over, as these new tops grow out a little horizontal, they’ll expose more bud sites.
