Growing Automatic plants in my back garden (UK)

Hello everyone, I’m just starting a grow journal for the season. I’ll be germinating some automatic seeds next week and I want to document the process.
As I’m living in England, I have to consider the strains that I believe will stand the best chance in the fairly humid and wet climate that I enjoy.
Last summer was extremely hot and I’m hoping for 3 months of solid sunshine this year.
I’ve chosen automatic strains as I want to keep them fairly discrete and grow them in with the other plants in my flower beds. I’ll be keeping them in pots so they can be easily moved if necessary.

The strains I have chosen and the free seeds that come with them -

1 x	AutoDurban Poison3 Seeds
1 x	Sugar Mama Auto5 Seeds
1 x	Free Auto Sour Diesel Haze1 Seed
1 x	FREE Auto Lemon skunk1 Seed
1 x	freefast stardawg
1 x	freefast girlscoutcookies

I’m not sure how some of these strains will do but I’m going to germinate all of them and see how many survive.
I will be starting them off in a propagator and letting them get to a good size before putting them into the large pots.

Any advice on substrate would be helpful, I was just going to go with a regular potting mix with some clay pellets and blood fish and bone mix. Possibly some farm yard manure.

My garden is a nice size with large flower beds and climbing plants. I’m not sure how smelly the plants will be when they start to flower but it should be contained by the 6ft stone wall surrounding the garden.

Any organic potting medium would work mate. Amendments are great but if u plan to feed them then what you listed is ample. Looking forward to your journey

Thank you Jack, just put the seeds in wet paper towel and will be potting up soon.

Yeah I like to get them out as soon as possible really. I’m also scouting for areas to do a big gorilla grow next year, I’ve already done 3 but I’ve since moved to a new area so I’m not near the mountains anymore

Yeah was gonna get some but I’ve never had any problems with my regular potting mix so should be ok.

Why not eh.. got nothin better to do. I’m tossin some autos and fast regs outside this summer as well. Will be busy af with the indoor as well. Should be a fun summer buddy

Yeah mate why not! I’m thinking about looking for a grow site in the middle of my local park. I live in the middle of a city but like the challenge of finding somewhere to grow. Wouldn’t mind 10 nice plants growing so I have a good crop.
Germinated the other seeds I have last night so gonna go for a walk and try to find a potential site to move them to

Finally popped up above the ground. Put some bottles with gardening fabric over them to keep out the rain that’s forecast and any slugs or bugs that feel like a snack.

If you want to grow in your own garden and that means you're totally in control, why not put some transparent makeshift roof over them babies? Sheet of polycarbonate, corrugated or 2-ply, even simple batten frame + clingfilm would do. Point is not to let the rainwater get into the flowers. I did that last year and in 2013 as well, it really keeps botrytis at bay.

Thanks for the suggestion, sounds like a good way to keep them from getting over watered. I actually did something very similar in my 2013 woodland grow (images attached)

I think what I will end up doing is finding a grow site near my house in the large local park. From google earth I can see that there are some well hidden hard to access areas that I will be scouting out in the coming days.
Problem is with my garden, I have family to visit at random times and they wouldn’t approve. If I was a total hermit I would have a huge greenhouse full of plants.

The purpose of the bottles is to let the plants grow with no disturbance until they have enough foliage to live outside.

I’ve also just germinated about 5 more autos so I want to have 9 autos in total in a gorilla grow.

Decided to put the plants into large terracotta pots and covered over with waterproof gardening fabric. Should keep the slugs out until they are big enough to move

I like those big clay(terracotta ) pots!!!!!They are also good for the roots and the plants will look really cool in them:)

Yeah they are really nice looking. The plants won’t be staying in them though unfortunately

I’ve also been on a grow site hunt and found a really nice spot. I could easily clear a small patch in the middle of the weeds and dig up the soil and add some manure and blood fish and bone to enrich it. I only have 9 automatics so they won’t require allot of space.

Growing away through the stormy weather. Will be keeping an eye on how leggy they get and pile some soil under the baby leaves.
Don’t think the other autos made it.
I’ve just ordered 5 feminised AMS seeds so I’ll be piping them soon too
