They just woke up so I’m doing another round of tying and am able to get better shots of the Gelato throwing a tantrum.

One of the fan tips was yellow and brittle at the very top. Light agitation caused the tip to break cleanly off at the yellow green boundary. I wonder what that was about.

More training being done on the other plants.

Finished tying them all down again.
Whipped up another batch of nutrients at:
2 teaspoons liquid kelp
1/4 dose micro nutrient (6-0-0) (1/4 teaspoon)
Full dose grow nutrient (2-1-6) (2 teaspoons)
1 or 2 teaspoons of cal-mag supplement (I honestly can’t remember now)
All to one gallon of tap water.

6.1 ph at 500 ppm (1.0 EC). Leaving it out to get rid of chlorine in the water. Unfortunately I just have to live with the fluoride in the water until I can buy an RO system.

Watering before they go to sleep :) Crispy burnt tips on the gelato in new places but nothing severe. The Persian Delight immediately to its left closest to the fan is also beginning to show some minor burnt tippage.
I might rotate them with the other two plants which aren’t directly under the bulb and see if they start getting grumpy too.

They are absolutely loving this training 🥰

Dial the nutes back a bit, it will cause slow and stunted growth😉

I’ve pulled back on the micro nutes (6-0-0) to a quarter of a dose and started grow nutes at full dose (2-1-6). Watered them for the first time with this new mix as they were getting ready to sleep today. Previously I was doing half dose on both nutes.
Next nute mix I will probably leave out the micro nutrient and just do grow + cal-mag

New nutrient batch is just grow and cal/mag at full dose + kelp water. Hopefully dialing back on the nitrogen from that micro nutrient will ease the burn I keep grappling with on this one plant in particular.
510 ppm (1.0 EC) at 5.8 ph. The ph should drift to alkaline as the calcium is consumed and I had it balanced at 6.2 before adding grow and calmag.

It was so hot today! Parts for my redneck swamp cooler come in tomorrow.

I don't know what kind of setup you have but a damp towel over the fan helps bring temps down a little while also increasing humidity.
Humidity will increase as plants "breathe" as well so as they contribute to humidity.
I also have been putting frozen bottles of water in a mug and putting the intake duct directly over it so the air gets cooled as it comes in.

Cool-mist humidifiers are super cheap on Amazon too.

Third round of tying and pruning lower leaves and nodes. Gelato first! The rest are soon to come.

Forgot to take pictures of the others last night.
One of the plants in particular has so much growth that it was actually pretty difficult to get to the main stem and untangle the branches.

A day later!
20 ml liquid kelp fertilizer / 1 gal
5 ml grow (2-1-6) / 1 gal
5 ml cal-mag / 1 gal
pH set to 5.8 with expectation of drift towards 6.2 as calcium is consumed.
Kelp water misting while they’re snoozing.

Thanks, man. Very useful tips.

I’m amazed at how fast these plants are growing every time I check in on them.
One of the plants started showing some yellowing signaling a hungry hungry hippo. Half dose of micro (6-0-0) (2.5 ml) added to the kelp water along with 10 ml of (2-1-6) and 5 ml cal/mag to the gallon of kelp water. I add between 10 and 20 ml (2-4 teaspoons) of the liquid kelp to water before mixing nutrients.
pH wound up being exactly 6.2 without any adjustments needed after mixing, miraculously.

Speaking of pH, I’m hearing through the grapevine that the purpling stems could be a sign of out of wack pH; I’ll have to do a slurry test later today. They’re already due for their 4th series of tie downs as well!

The Gelato 33 has been the grumpiest little plant the entire time while the indica sisters have been thriving. I’m tempted to just put her outside and let her stretch her wings while hoping for the best. I kind of wonder if it has anything to do with having a lot less coco coir in the pot too relative to the others.

Further water research reveals that the water here in Portland actually uses Chloramines which don’t evaporate by leaving water out overnight. Well, shit.

Before I forget, nutrients are being increased for now.
5 ml (6-0-0)
15 ml (2-1-6)
5 ml cal/mag
20 ml liquid kelp
5.7/5.8 pH at 780 ppm

My tap water reads zero ppm when I check it which is kind of surprising . Final ppm/EC was a lot more than I wanted so I diluted half the gallon in another container for my houseplants which are looking a little hungry.

Pruned and tied down further. They’re a lot more thirsty now each getting their own bottle of nutrients when I had been watering two to a bottle :)

All the plants are looking a little droopy; I either overwatered last night or gave them a rad too much nitrogen. They’re looking good other than that though!

I talk a lot on discord about my grow and post pictures; somebody told me today they joined the server specifically because of me posting plants and getting people excited about gardening 😊

Some minor spotting on the bottom leaves of one of the plants; probably a pH issue since I made a large change for the last watering.
They need a 5th round of tie downs already and I’m about to water them before they snooze.

Leaves on this one are getting worse and I’m not sure what the actual cause is. Salt buildup in the coco?
