One watering with 7.7 pH won't hurt it too much. Make it a habit and your plant will get sick.

Natural, organic pH up and down do exist, and not too pricey. 👍🏻

The answer is it depends. Although one time wont matter. Is your soil properly buffered with lime or oyster shell?

Is your source water very alkaline (hard)?

I never ph my water or nute mixture in potting soil. And i use well water that is 150 ppm and 8.0 ph out of the tap.

It is the alkalinity of the water and the buffer in the soil that matters.

If you always need to lower your PH, pickup a bottle of the Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 (get the OMRI version as they also sell a non organic bottle). It knocks down my tap water PH from ~7.5 down to ~6.3 with around 1/8 tbs in 2 gallons. (My tab is ~35ppm so considered fairly soft.) Quart bottle is about $10 and will last you all year. It will work well in your tea.

For an experiment, I once watered my male plant in coco for a whole 3 weeks with just pure tap water at almost 8.0 pH (since it was going to get chopped anyways) and nothing really changed besides it not growing much at all. Unfortunately, the pollen sacs started to mature faster than I can get it to have a ph problem, so I had to chop him down. Bottom line: Once, a few, or many times wont really hurt your plant, but do it regularly you're def looking for a nute lockout. Good luck.

Just use carbonated water that has gone flat. Works as a great ph down buffer. Pluses cheap and it’s just water.

Carbonated water that has gone flat is just water it's no longer saturated with carbonic acid. The reason carbonated water lowers ph (very short duration) is because the carbon dioxide dissolved in the water creates carbonic acid. Thats the bubbles you see, carbon dioxide leaving the water.

Once it goes flat it has no real ability to change the ph

Research the nutrients, N-P-K and the pH it takes to make them available and lockouts.đź‘Ť

Composts I make (CPR) is always on the acidic side(6-6.5). When the pH is on the acidic side(6) has better drainage than alkaline soils. To acidic stops microbial activities, to alkaline can slow and even make phosphorous unavailable. Nitrogen is actually acidic.

that depends...if you have acidic soil lets say in the mid to upper 5ph then yes you would water with alkaline water by doing so as the alkaline water permeates the acidic soil it will lower the ph into the range needed for maximum growth 6.2

I know ZERO about hydroponics, Thankyou for the lesson.đź‘Ťđź‘€
when you are growing biologically "organic" in soil %90 of the energy the plant produces during photosynthesis is used to producing a large root system when you are growing inorganically %90 of the energy the plant produces during photosynthesis is used to producing fruit and has a much smaller root system ...the reason is the inorganic fertilizer is already in a form the plant can use so the roots stay where the food is.

phosphoric acid is used to lower ph
