Hello. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with cloning a plant that was grown from a feminized seed? Everything I have read says it's exactly the same as cloning a female plant but I definitely don't believe everything I read! I'm old school and still find feminized seeds odd and wonder how stable the plant will be and a clone from that plant!
Any experience anyone has with feminized seeds will be helpful but would especially like to hear how the clones from a feminized seed plant turned out?
Thanks

Hello and welcome to the Farm!

While a feminized seed should produce a female plant, there's always a chance it could turn out to be a male. This happens. Whichever sex the plant turns out to be, so too, will be the clone. If you can first determine with 100% assurance that you have a female plant, you will 100% have a female clone. There's nothing wrong with cloning. Some will argue plants grown from seeds will produce more, or have better root systems than clones, but there is a lot of controversy over that in either direction. However, cloning is one of the most preferred methods of propagation used widely in the cannabis industry.

Awesome! Thanks everyone! Sounds like everyone has had pretty much the same outcome :) I will definitely make sure they actually turn out female.
Oh and has anyone had any issues with them hermaphroditing?

That usually comes from plant stress. Over/underfeeding, light leaks, heat, etc.

Sorry new on this site, not sure how to reply. It tries to add on to your message.

But yeah, I know there are certain things that can cause stress and hermaphrodite a plant. I'm just not aware of the process of determining the sex of a seed? Wondering if kinda similar to determining the sex of a 1 day old chick hatchling? A bunch of knowledgeable people checking them out and saying yes or no, but some are actually roosters, haahaha!! Or is there more science behind it? Sorry, I like to know the specifics behind everything.

You cant know the sex of a seed until it matures. But if there are no males in the room the seeds will be female. There is a small fraction that could be male. Nature does that sometimes. Just like any plant can reverse if the right conditions trigger it. So I guess we live with 99% sure.
