What bulb are you using now? I usually go from 24 hrs light on to 12/12 lights on/off. I use a 1000w hps for flowering and I veg under 200w of florescent lights. Right now because I'm vegging under the 1000w I'm on 18/6. I'm switching this week to 12/12. I don't know if that helps but thats what I do.

Thank u I'm using MH 600 watt at 50% at the moment I just transplant to my last pot size using fox farm mixing the 2 brands 1 to 1 and since I'm in a 20 gal pot I also mixed 5 to 1 with perlite. Shes showing begging signs of flowering so I was gana give her a week to settle in and then I was gana start adding about an hr of darkness a week till at 12 and 12 but I was wondering should I wait till I'm at 12 and 12 to change the bulb out or should I put the HPS bulb in before I start getting more dark time?

Too complicated for me, I go straight from 24hrs on to 12/12. Why do you only want to cut the light by an hour a week? I stay with 1000w hps light on 100% soon as I go 12/12 if I can handle heat, summer I need to turn the ballast down to 60-70% to keep my temp down. Fall, winter & spring I can run @ 100%. I use 3 gallon pots I'll go to a 5 gallon if I'm vegging for more than 2 months. I can tell when I need watering by the weight of the pot up to a 5 gal pot after that I wouldn't be able to lift the thing.

Figure in real life the light gets cut back slowly so why not try an imitate that since I'm trying to play god lol.

So when should I change the bulb to HPS?
When you flip. Some wait till after stretch about 2 weeks but I can't say from personal experience. Personally I don't feel it's going to make to much difference but the spectrum of MH has more blue and will likely help a little with keeping the stretch more compact.

I would always go with the more light. So if you have a 600 w MH or a 1000 w HPS I would go HPS. If you have both 1000w I would prob switch after the stretch

I have a 600w MH at the moment but I cant go about 50% and I have a 1000w HPS I'm gana pick up a closed hood and run vents so I can go more or if I run the HPS at 50% would that be fine?

Run whatever you can get those most wattage out of. If the wattage is equal go with MH for 2weeks after flip.

Your plants do not live in real life; they live in what environment that we have created for them.

Correct but they normally do live in real life my goal is to create the best environment for them but still control everything for there best opportunity to create me as much buds as possible. But I've seen some plants that do live in real life and have pounds and strong. So why can't I try and do the best of both.

Of course you can try.
IMO, it's a waste of time, but if you see tangible results, my opinion is always open to change.
Plz keep the forum in the loop..Pictures along the way would be great too:)

Not stupid it's a valid question. It's makes sense that we wanna try to replicate nature. some things we can short cut, some we can't and others just don't have an impact... At lease imo.
