I’d hold off on any thinning till your buds get going, if ever, then maybe just the lower portion at the stem. Your plant needs that stored energy in those leaves to form those buds, why diminish that fuel? As the plant starts taking the energy then you’ll see the natural fade, where those same leaves, energy spent will turn yellow and die off, then they can be removed, imho...
As far as mice, that’s quite the stretch, probably thrips or some small grass hoppers, or grub/worms eating the leaves, they’re for you to find and remove. Put some sticky traps alongside where the damage is going on, you might snag a few of the little plant eating bugs. Also start a review of your practices where you add scoping (small loop) the underside of the leaves every time you tend your plants, watch for anything out of the ordinary, pay attention to any webbing you may find. Good luck.

Can I just treat with a pesticide that's safe and wont stress them too much and not find out exactly what it was?

This is a very common problem this time of year, in fact there is someone else on this very Forum right now having this same issue, and I've seen it many times on various cannabis posting boards in the past, always in the late fall-early winter

Doesn't have to be an entry in the room where you grow, there can be an entry anywhere in the house and a mouse can then easily fit under doors. Use traps or get a cat

Am not convinced its mice as to where some of the damage is but will definitely be setting traps tomorrow, to make sure I'm hoping it is as would be much easier to deal with than bugs, just thought I'd ask this question here too how low can I let my night temps get? Today it was 15 degrees at lights off when outside was 17 day temps are around 24-25 do I need a heater at lights off?

Hey guys still giving me trouble and haven't caught any mice in my traps I thinned them out only as necessary as @Seraphine suggested but still can't find signs if bugs also seems like the plants have started drinking less over the past week is this because they have just started flower? Just the same sort of damage continuing will post more photos when lights are on. Cheers

shit, by the size of those bites it might as well be a loose sloth in your growtent
if you're sure it's not mice check under the leaves and on the stems very closely with a macro lens- could be some minuscule pest invisible to the naked eye
Cheers for the reply I reckon ay! Will have to get a lense asap

Have you looked for droppings? Look below damaged leaf, they shit as they eat. Maybe pincher bugs or mealybugs. Just a SWAG.

With lights on have a peek at the soil. Maybe move soil around with a fork while using a flashlight. Cut up a sticky trap into small strips and lay across the soil. All I got.

Im flattered you ask me for help buddy! With that said the only time I seen damage like that before is when my cats eats my plants leafs in veg (i let him). this one i though.Have you tried those sticky traps like people suggested.
Honestly, I will get some negative feedback for saying this, but if your sure its not a animal and you tried EVERYTHING else that people here have suggested. I would buy some pesticide and spray the plants and the whole growroom. Then spray of and wash the plant with water. Thats defenitly the last resourt and I myself had to do this only once in my life, but they were at the same stage as yours and the buds you going to smoke are not even formed yet.
