I used to love raccoons until I tried to chase a big one off my deck after he scared my cat off and ate his food. Went after him with a broom and he grabbed it. Chased me into my cabin and rattled the glass paned door like he was going to come in and eat me. I was scrambling inside. Funny now. Not at the time.

Trash pandas. LoL <3 cute to look at, not to deal with.

I really am limited with my cloning experience. I have the method I use and it always works so I haven't tried others. Usually visable roots in 7days at the out edges and bottom of the pellets. I should probably try some new techniques one day here.

The only reason I really prefer domeless. Is because I only have 1 seedling light, and too lazy to buy another tray.
Its just convenience really for me, to have a fresh cutting + a month old plant under the same light.
Not play musical chairs with domelids and trays lol.

Eds coco guide suggested to go domeless, and it worked for me. if your method is getting roots in 7 days. Keep at it, thats good.

I just started a set of clones today, I've been going from 100% to 0 success rate and I haven't been changing anything so IDK what the hell is going on? LOL clones are fickle and can be frustrating, I've been using both the peat pots and bubbler. Today I set up the bubble cloner, hoping for the best! I don't know what the variable is, I can't find it ..yet

Biggest factor I find is root zone temps 72-75f, a room temp of 80f usually gives me that. That's pretty much it and with my peat pellets making sure I have 100% humidity. Soil packed tight to the stems. Very little light under 5k lux preferably around 2-3k, mine right now are about 1k. Never had issues yet but I do know some strains take better than others.

should take more ,isnt that the one you really like

I have never needed more than 2. And i want the best yield I can get so I didnt take any of the developed branches. I try to bud them down to the bottom because of my low ceiling. The plants after bending are 30” tall max over the pot.

Also I stay in plant count here.

This is great to see. I did this as a kid but not with cannabis. I'm eager to see how well and how long it takes to root. No dome right?

No dome needed in the water but maybe for planting in a cup of dirt while it finishes rooting. I was going to try one of each if possible this time.

It (for me) averages 7-10 days to show root bumps and maybe little whispy starter roots. Then i plant and usually have a plant to work with in 2 more weeks ready for the one gallon. Temp and humidity are crucial it seems. But i got pm in the clone dome last time so i am hoping i can root them without it.

Yeah that's my fear... It will happen one day I'm sure.

We need you to teach a class my bud. Far more knowledgeable than the two so called "Cannabis Universities". The best part is making growing, cloning etc.. simple with methods you know work instead of selling all the BS methods that waste time and money.

Its all hype my friend. Spend money on ventilation and lights was the advice I followed.

Same.
Tomato plants

It almost feels like the dome just provides some water content while the plants adjust & the media does a dry cycle. I cant really wrap my head around it doing anything other than that.

I agree. The high humidity in the dome takes the stress of of uptaking so they dont eat their own leaves too fast while rooting. Seems to be a balance. You can stick a baggie over a cup and remove easily enough too.

I clone in pellets totally different. No dome very sad clones. Hell I mist them immediately after or I find they wilt.. with a little mist only once and leaving the dome for 3 days before opening they stay nice and perky.

That doesn't mean shit when comparing to this though, much more water available? Idk not something I have done much research on so I'm very interested to see how well it works for cannabis. Hell anything that makes it simple is a win in my books.

With enough patience and left in indirect light in temp range like 70-75 farenheight. Also water changes every week or if cloudy. I have had every cutting show roots even the late flower cuttings I showed. Although they took 3-5 weeks longer to root. Longer in the cup establishing too.

All cuttings have been newer growth lowest branches. I think that is important. Very flexible 6-8” cuts with some nice newer leaves. Healthy and vigorous.

I think the variable is patience. Not all plants will root in 2 weeks.

Much agreed. And also only take cutting from the lowest branches. My latest clones no rooting powder.

Well what I see is with the peat pots with the Dome sometimes I get a little white fuzz where the cutting touches the peat pot and at that point they're dead, I've started dropping the humidity after 3 days and that seems to be the variable in the peat pot

But in the bubbler I have no clue why they root sometime and not others, here's everything I do first three runs I got 100% 4th run I got zero so idk, here's my thread on it

Yeah i am sure no expert. I have always just put them in water. Time and temp seem to be the main variables. i never used a peat puck, ro water, rooting products, airstone...

I normally clone with rockwool or growdan, but have cloned in promix hpcc a bunch too, also bubble cloner.

Rooting in a solo cup of promix hpcc seems to be the fastest, roots at the drain holes in 7 days. The bubble cloner takes about 2 weeks and the rockwool take 10 or 12 days.

All strain dependent of course, the gelato I'm working with right now seems to take 2 or 3 days longer than the white widow, but the results are the same.

No root hormone or anything weird. Just in the veg cabinet under 24 hour light. Rockwool in a domed seedling flat.

I only root them in the water to know if they are viable. Like taprooting a seed.

That's another thing I wanted to mention, all my cuttings come from the top, but so did the sets that rooted 100%?!? maybe this topic will get some play today I'd sure like to hear ideas!?

Ok. I have no idea if this is true but i read in a few grow books that the lower branches will convert to rooting faster and more vigorously than upper branches that are focused on new leaf growth.

Also read that best results are on nice young flexible stalks. More difficulty if woody or stiff.

Other than that i copied the older women out here that have amazing veggie gardens. They grow massive tomato plants man!

Good morning fellas,
I've cloned about every way imaginable over the decades.
The most determinant factor I've concluded is cuttings should be taken from plants that are a minimum of 8 weeks old for 100% success rates.

Just my 2 cents.
