Hello,

I'm making this grow diary to keep track of my first grow and to get invaluable help from a wonderful community of like-minded farmers.

Technically this isn't my first grow, since I germinated a random seed into my miricle grow aerogarden a few months ago. I found the seed in some bud and kept it in case I wanted to try growing, and it worked....somewhat. still waiting on that one to finish maturing but I did not have the tools or infrastructure to care for it.

I have been using Deep Water Culture DWC to grow peppers tomatoes and lettuce since the end of 2019 and still have lots to learn.

Since then I have bought a grow tent 30x30" or 2.5x2.5 feet, and filled it with the following:
Ts1000 mars hydro led
104L tote (home depot)
Air pump 270L/h
Water pump 291 GPH
Exterior 20L bucket
¾" tubing and fittings to get plumbing for bucket and tote
Misc. Stuff like 24h timer, ¼" tubing, airstones, 6" netcups, rockwool, clay pebbles, mylar.

I prepared my system with foxfarms grow big and Remo Magnifical according to thier week one instructions, raising my EC to 1.4. My pH was lowered to 6.0 but is slowly dropping to 5.6 (perhaps one day was not long enough to allow the solution to mix thoroughly)

I germinated my blueberry seeds feb 6 2020 and they are growing so well! They made it into my recirculating system just 10 days later with their first set of true leaves. They are now on their 4th set of leaves with the 5th set already bursting from the top, only 3 inches tall.

I will upload as often as possible, maybe daily with remarks on pH and nutrients and any stress training or troubleshooting I do. I'm looking for help or tips about how to grow my feminized blueberry OG so please feel free to contact me.

More detail posts with pictures coming soon!

I believe fox farm has organics in it... anything with organic in dwc is probably not going to go well...EC seems way high...just a thought..if you are building your own system...might be good idea to rethink and trash the air pumps and stones..just extra power and heat not needed.. maybe put water pump in rez.and flow back to totes for a waterfall effect, which is better than air stones all around...if your pH isn't staying stable, something is wrong, you should be able to set it and forget it...once it's stable... looking good so far..

I'm only using fox farm grow big, not big bloom which has the guano in it. Does grow big use organics?

My pH might have also changed because I recently switched instruments to the blue lab pH meter. Previously I was using a 20$ one off Amazon.

What is a good week one EC for DWC? I can't find any useful info online about this, everyone says to follow the instructions on the bottle

I did build my own system and there is a waterfall going into the tote. The flow then comes out of the bottom left of the tote and returns directly to the resivoir. I attached a picture because I can't upload a video right now for some reason.

The EC/ ppm is different for ppl it seems..but less is better..think it depends on strain, lights, brand of nutes, size of plants...out of all the charts I've seen, the one I attached seems to work well for me..it's only a reference not exact.. everybody stuff is different...I like the waterfall....I have no idea on the fox farm..I used one kind one time and never looked back..lol..I was just saying maybe stay clear of organic stuff..roots look good 👍..it's good to have something in there like hydro guard..

I topped my plants today just above the fifth node. I noticed some kind of burning happening on the lower leaves of both plants. Small orange spots around the outer edge. This doesnt look like nutrient burn, maybe its the density of the folliage creating high humidity? Or the cold basement is keeping the air too dry?
Roots are looking white and healthy. The plant on the right is growing bigger faster. Early nodes have strong lateral growth almost reaching as high as the fifth node where I topped.
EC is at 1.4 and pH holding at 5.9

Let me know if you can troubleshoot my leaf damage. I'm afraid it will destroy the rest of my plant if left unchecked. Thanks 😁

Could the leaf discouloration also be from high humidity?

I dont know what the effect are of having too much nitrogen in the nutes heading into flower. I am about to go into flower 12/12h. Since adding foxfarms grow big up to 1.5EC, I have let the EC drop down to 1.0 and I am slowly adding FoxFarms Tiger Bloom daily to slowly get the EC up to 1.5ish. My Calmag has a high Nitrogen component so I'm trying to avoiding adding more Nitrogen. I am considering dumping a significant amount of whats in my resivour and replacing it to get a more concentrated potassium and phosphorus ratios.

Its been a long time since my last update. My grow is going well, but im concerned my plants are taking too long to go into flower. They still have symmetrical growth and im only now starting to see some preflowers form. I think they are stretching because every time I open the tent, the plants seem to have doubled in size. I will post later today with the full diary of whats happened in the last 2 weeks. Thanks for the tips and advise guys.

stretch takes about 2 weeks to complete, just depends when you flipped. some stretch a little more, others less
