Hello

new to the hobby. I wanted to start a micro grow. Put this together with cardboard boxes, foil, space blankets, glue and duct tape

I had the hanger thing already as well as the 24” T5. I added a 30 watt 24” led as well.

not expecting much yield but I’m hoping to gain the experience.

im waiting on my carbon filter to come then I should be complete?

Im gonna flower straight from seed maybe veg a week then switch to 12/12

it’s the only way to learn 🤔

here pics.

Hey.

I've been there. Don't let the naysayers stop you from experimenting.

The big thing is don't use foil and space blankets. It looks cool. But your basically making a little oven there and plants like it cooler then we do.

Think more about temperature and airflow now instead of light reflection. If you can't get mylar, then just leave the walls as is. Make it light proof some other way.

You have a fan in there which is good. But you will want something moving air from in to out. That's going to be the trick to getting this to work unless you are going to manually open and close it every day for when the lights are on.

Even a fluorescent will warm up a little unventilated space.

Then if all goes well, verticle space will be the next issue. Even flowering from seed I would expect plants to stretch to touch the light unless you train them somehow.

Good luck and welcome to the world of growing.

Thanks for the tips! Good one about the reflection. I didn’t know that. I thought it’s all about reflection right now

Very common mistake. Im sure many of us have toasted a seedling or two.

Obviously your light is not enough to make real buds. But adding reflection makes a minimal difference over normal wall paint and usually insulates too much unless it's designed for growing.

What ever you can invest, spend it on more light and more airflow and more height.
