Noob here, I make a 1gal feed, cal mag, a/b, roots excel, algen extract, multi zen, nitro boost, drip clean, and Powersi. Was wondering what the shelf life would be on a feed that I mix up? And also what if I got air stones?

Adding airstones to the nutrient mix? I'm not a hydro guy. Not by a long shot but I think your referring to storage only. In this case oxygenating your stored mix would only accelerate bacteria growth and or breakdown. It would not prolong the life.

I’m not doing hydro. Just using air stones to mix my feed. I guess if you’re saying if I leave it on for a prolonged period, it’ll get bad quick. Somewhat answered me question lol. Use it fast for quick mix, but not to store on shelf for a day or two.

Interesting. I shake... Lol. Air infusion wont help storage life. Go by your nose. I do stretch it despite my 24 hour rule. The LP I grew for kept mixed barrels for a week. Way too long.

Re test at each feeding. If the numbers work and the smell hasn't changed you're good for a day to a few.

***Clean water vessels and hands extend storage life.

When the mix starts to visibly separate its definitely no good!

Saw this today and thought of this thread.

Cheers!

Hi always mix fresh nutes some say you have 24 hr but what’s the point of waiting if you know your grow you should be able to mix the right amount maybe with a lt or so left over , ive seen Nute mix left for 3 days and it still had good ppm but it rapidly dropped down from the the time it was mixed . Regards Od .

IMO you can mix inorganic nutrients and keep them longer than organic nutrients (im not going to get into organic nutrients). The risk only happens in stagnant water exposed to air where some species bacteria may start to colonize under certain conditions. But I would say if you they are fully inorganic, mixed then sealed in a gal jug or something they can last a long time. Aerate before use and PH right before feeding and should not be an issue going a couple weeks or more.

cool dark place
