I’ve always read/heard u need about 40-50W per square foot to flower successfully yet I see people killing it with 1 mars hydro ts-1000 in a 3x3 how is this possible? Am I missing something? I always thought the more light (with some exceptions there def is cases when it’s too much light) the better..

Whats “killing it”?

If someone got 150 grams from what mars lamp (its only 100 watts) that would be pretty good results.

But i have gotten 15 oz in a 3x3 with a 315 cmh.

What about those who can get 2 pounds with an hlg 550 or even a 600w hps?

It’s all “high tech”
Lumileds was a leader 20 years ago now we’re over run with many reputable brands

That’s what I thought too but I’m sure this is more than 150 grams. This is a random guy I follow on ig..

The mars reflector is 14” long so the whole grow shown is what? 2 feet wide?

I apologize i said it was 100 watts and it is 150 like you said. But it only flowers a 2x2 area. A quarter pound plant (or 3 smaller ones) is that size in my garden.

That is the most shameless grow I've ever seen. I'm surprised it doesnt have a digital scrolling banner somewhere announcing this weeks feature product...
Lol yea he’s definitely got the promos going full on.. mind u this is the most random one I remember (but there are others) I’m almost inclined to call bullshit.. I keep seeing grows like this with people using 150W Leds to flower.. Its just puzzling to me..

He claims that’s a 3x3.. bit he’s not the only one I’ve seen doing this and the plants look great.. it most certainly does recommend a 2x2 area footprint.. but more and more I see people using (what I think isn’t nearly enough to get the buds to fatten up) low wattage in spacious tents..

Even if its a 3x3 those are tiny plants. The photo looks good though. They are healthy. If they did 2 oz dry each i could believe it. But that's like 1.5 grams per watt with 150 watts. The math works.

My best is 54.23 grams per square foot with 28.71 watts of LEDS per foot. But not the mars stuff. I really do not trust most of the numbers people post. Mimed is straight up and I believe his numbers. 3 x 3 I would be at 17.2 OZ and that was my best grow to date.
Maybe it is the CO2 he is adding or wait is he advertising for them?

"Co2 in a soda bottle is killing it!"......is venting the tent.

Lol when I say killing it I just mean that people are saying they’re getting over 224G under a 150W light in a 3x3 to a guy that’s only been growing a year that is “killing it” 😂

2 grams/watt is in the realm of possibility but sometimes when I see people making those claims I think they are weighing their bud wet, untrimmed, and still on the stems.

I did over 2 lbs with 600w in a 4x4 and I couldn't max the light. That was fully environmentaly controlled with CO2 and hydro. Highly reflective walls which makes a huge difference in the light that makes it to the plant.

I don't find that amazing. Small spaces that are highly reflective are much easier to pull high weight from less light. If that was a 3x3 open space you could cut 1/3 off that weight I'm sure. These type of micro grows are extremely efficient and adding CO2 to them makes the growth rates crazy.

This is why I see 30w sq ft of led as more than enough light while some use 40-50w.

In my new room because of the size and coverage of my light I am betting the gpw (which I hate using) drops by close to 1/6. Mind you I will be able to run full power so maybe not.

Just my opinion doesn't make it right.

I agree with you about 30w/sqft being plenty for most grows but I still think having 40-50w/sqft available is the sweet spot for leds because they generally run cooler, longer, and more efficiently when the drivers are not maxed out. I think a lot of growers run their lights like this which can make the gpw rating all the more confusing. I mean if I have a 600w led, but draw an average 400w over the course of a grow, and yield 600 grams, is it 1gpw or 1.5gpw?

It would also make more sense to me if people included the veg time. For example if one person reported their grow as 1gpw3 and another person has 1.5gpw6 where the 3 and the 6 are the number of weeks vegged you would get a lot more context as to why there is a difference.

I'm 2&1/2 weeks into flower. I'm using a 600w equivalent led, cheap Amazon brand, and I'm also using 2 80w equivalent clamp grow lights with 4 heads. The main light for the tops and the smaller for the lower buds. Kinda like 360* lighting. They're a bit lanky but I had 6 in the tent a few weeks ago so they were racing to the light. I'm running my whole set up on a single outlet, vents, fans, lights, humidity... Everything. It's my first indoor grow so it's not perfect but! A few cheap lights set strategically will do the trick.
