If there clones then find out if the plants they were cloned from were sexed or not? lol
I cloned the mother plants to see the sex. First grow and I am almost ready to cut the light down to 10 hours and was hoping to find out the sex so I can clone a couple more

If you're taking clones from a plant to find out the sex, you can send those clones into 12/12 light cycle, (not 10) and they should show sex pretty soon after. Make sure they have a decent set of roots coming out after you've cloned (usually around 6-9 days depending)

And make sure that it is 12 light and 12 COMPLETELY DARK. NO LIGHT OR THEY WILL CONTINUE TO VEG.

Also - clip just the tips of the big fan leaves. You want to trick the plant into shutting down it's leaf growth, and focus solely on root growth. Also - clear solo cups are a horrible idea. Roots need darkness to grow, light will stunt them.

Jeez there is a lot wrong here. Did you just clone these and put these straight into soil? or were these rooted clones that you just planted?

Heard! First time growing so many mistakes made so far but learning and growing. I cut the clones and put directly into soil and it has been 10 days now. I was hoping to find out the sex before I replanted them. Did not now about light stunting the growth of the roots but seems obvious now that you said it. I will clip the tips as well. I have been covering them with a large plastic storage container them allowing only 10 hours a day. Do u see any early indications from the pics?

Hey bud - no worries! we all have to start somewhere. I just have a personal pet peeve when people go too far on their own, then ask for advice when it's too late.

But I have to remind myself, I have been in your shoes too lol. I don't mean to be a dick, I'm here to help you!

So these clones you have directly in soil may be fine, they are still alive it seems, which is good.

But it is very hard to see sex based on the photos that you posted. They are pretty far away from the spots I need to look at, and the lighting isn't great. If you can get better pics I might be able to help out a little better.

The closest to showing looks like number one, but honestly none of them look far enough along. I added a pic with the areas circled that you need to look at for sexing. Pics are still too far away.

Read around the forums about sexing plants. Familiarize yourself with other people's grow journals. Learn from their mistakes, so you don't have to repeat them. Click the thing at the top of the page that says "Forums" and scroll down to where it says "search forums" and find threads that you can learn from.

This has been an invaluable research tool for me over the past 10 years. I guarantee you someone has had your problem, and someone has given them advice on how to solve it :)

Well nodes are just starting to alternate so maybe you can tell. You will need a 60-100x microscope or jewelers loupe.

It's much harder to identify males so I just wait until they show sex after flip. Females are not so tough. Your looking for the 2 hairs (pistils) that protrude from the calyx.

This is what you are looking for. The first is a preflowering female I found yesterday in my room. The second shows male and female and I plucked it from the web.
