I need some opinions and hopefully some advice from someone who's been there before. I was mixing up a new batch of living soil for my 120 gallon 20 cubic feet) pot. I got to the point I needed to mix my amendments in, and went ahead and added:
1/2 cup per cuft kelp meal
1/2 cup per cuft neem seed meal
1/2 cup per cuft oyster shell flour
1/2 cup per cuft crustacean meal
4 cups per cuft of a mineral mix I made myself out of mainly granite dust.
The problem I ran into, is as I was mixing, my fiance tells me she had already added the 10 cups of kelp meal. I'm guessing I have double the amount of kelp meal that I intended to put into this mix. The question I have, is can I run this soil and it not be detrimental? I know my first cycle will likely have some issues, but I am mainly worried about accumulated salts since I will not be watering to runoff and kelp meal tends to have around 6% salt content. Anyone with any advice on a course of action? I'm hoping I can just run it, but I've never made a mix with double the quantity of any amendment. Any help is appreciated!
