What's the best way to utilize this space and plant count? 12 rows of 3 plants? 18 rows of 2 plants? a mix, 2 pots in one row, then 3 pots in the next row... continue this pattern?

Veg time is not an issue... Have 6 weeks to veg if I really need too.

Depends on your lighting.

If you have even led lighting, space them as evenly as you can. Like 4x9.

If you are using HID and dont have even lighting, you may be better off keeping them away from the edges where the light falls off.

I feel the four foot width is your limiting factor therefore I vote 18×2

You may want to indent the edges of your grow space. Most likely you'll have quite a bit of light loss in the corners and sides.

What do you mean by "indent the edges of your grow space". Do you mean for instance, if I am running 4 plants per 4x4, to center each plant in a 2x2 space?

You need light for every 6ft of length, or when your plants grow they will block all light reflected from your walls up to the canopy leaving you with light only to your canopy. I'd grow 8 plants in a 3x2 spaced out pattern.

Indent as in leave space. The falloff of light at the edges and corners will be significant due to not having even lighting and not being able to put your lights too close to the walls.

36 plants in a 4x4 would be a impressive squeeze. I have 13 in a bit larger sq ft then that and I might have done to many. My first round I had 1 plant that took up most that area. If you want to run high numbers 1 get a bigger room 2 flower from seed and start 2 plants and then 2 plants every 2 weeks.

I agree, but he's in a 4x24 not a 4x4

Huge diffrence haha I was wondering if he flowering in solo cups 🤣 dabs and posting first thing in the morning is no bueno hahah

Actually room is 15x28'... gonna be (3) rows, each 4x24' with 1.5' walkways between the rows. (12) 1k Gavitas... per room... yeah its gonna be 2 rooms hehe.

Lol yeah. I would be more impressed if he got 4 double ended 1000w bulbs in a 4x4 🤣

I'm running Gavita DE 1000w... 4 of them over a 4x24 space.

Most people cover a 4x4 area with those or could push up to a 5x5 so you may need to add 1 to 2 more lights in there. Even at 5x5 4 would cover 4x20ft. Maybe throw 2 x630w cmh in there between fixtures? Either way best of luck on your grow

Gavita 1k throw a 4'x6' footprint. So over a 4'x24' space you run 4 of them, 6' on center. Overlapping reflectors increase the par levels too on the 6' spread.
