So in regards to some of my "scraggly plants" I was doing some weighing today, and I've discovered that rolling a joint, say 1 gram of weed. 0.64 of that gram is seed, and around 0.32 of it is actually flower, rest being stem.

That explains a lot about size of buds when they are seeded, compared to when there not seeded, and overall yields. I think seed is about twice, or sometimes even three times denser per volume of flower also.

I'm wondering if it might affect coloring to a certain degree, or require more root density than normal. Since it's taking up much more energy, and metabolism, especially when it's been highly pollenized and there's ton's of seeds.

My favorite, all-time strain changes through time. It's likely to become a plant that is currently growing in my tent, judging by an advanced taste from a bud that was clipped when the plant got too close to a clipper. (I told it to be careful, but plants don't listen. They think they know everything.)

BC Rockstar Kush is the best in yield for weight and THC. My opinion but I've grown it and have process it into wax/budder where the come back for an oz ranges from 7.7-8.3grams highest was Tuna Kush at 9 grams to the oz but that weed is hard to find and noone really grows it because of the plant structure and yield.

LOL, you come up with some of the most off the wall strains I've never hear of OG (aussie strains). You guys have your own little world there, down under.

Is that the aboriginal strain?

My Dad said it’s from a Tai strain xwith a Columbian strain he said from the guys that bred it they brought back seed form both areas in late 60’s early 70’s trips crossed the strains and wham bam thank you man it’s the Mullum madness is born my Mum n Dad were hippies Aquarian children they moved to Nimbin in 1946 escaping the then shitty city of Brisbane bought 129 acres of thick bush N.E. facing he build a safe haven for us there grew all our open food build from recycled housing materials fished our own rivers raised live stock to eat n control the weeds you know just hippies I was born on a banana bag on back of dads Ute in middle of the food forest dad had made .... Dad n man grew the madness for years and as I said my older sister who is 85 this year still grows it not sure if its as true to the pheno type as the first MM seeds that came out bit it’s a very good close representation of the true Mullum Mad Weed . Yea, I suspect many of good strains were just "dumb luck" Sorta like apple seeds. Some are sweet, but mostly, not so much. Just combine the best you got, and hope for the best.

Most top shelf commercial/black market stuff is from a single pheno of any given strain selected from hundreds or even thousands of plants.

I know guys that sprout anywhere from 1000-10000 seeds of each variety looking for keepers, and they usually put 1% or less into production. Exceptional pot is just that, an outlier usually.

Yea, I agree that's how much of the exceptional stuff is found. It's well documented that some strains just come from obscurity, or were simply "luck" from crossing enough plants, or successively grown for generations in "micro climates"

When cannabis breeders began to cross hybrids with other hybrids in hopes that a magic varietal would emerge and prove greater than the sum of its parts.

Which brings us to one of the most iconic strains of all time. OG Kush.

I might not pop 10,000 seeds at once, but I almost always pop a few dozen or more, and grow out, less than 10% of the results to full maturity. There's much to be said about vigor, and selecting the plants that have excellent traits, I'm by no means an expert, but I can see plants that stand out above and beyone the rest, no question.

I've had plenty of flowers that tested low but were very potent smokers. When I see 25-30% on an analysis it does impress me, I'm not saying it doesn't. But there's plenty of 10-15% strains that are still very potent producers. I can remember strains back in the early 70's that only had 7-10% THC back in the day, and thought many were wonderful strains, actually. Like the original Columbian Gold's and Red's, the early Maui wowie, and of course the skunk weed.
I'd be willing to bet the testing today is different from the testing 40 years ago. Also the samples tested nowadays are pretty fresh compared to samples tested long ago. I have yet to find a strain today that can match the best Thai or Hawaiian of 1978
