Do you think another 2 weeks would be better or give it another week and go from there? I’m definitely trying not to be too impatient lmao but also don’t know if keeping in flower for longer than needed is a bad thing or could ruin the final product. I still think the burning on the tips was from the heat and the issue with the water pH in the first month of flower :/ Learning as I’m going haha, so thank you!
Tough to predict timeline. Believe me, if you just watch the plant you will know the swell when you see it. It could easily happen in the next week or it could take longer. Right now she still looks very pistil-y. She will swell and it will just look different. Idk how to explain it but if you've been watching the plant you can see and feel it.

And don't worry too much, you'd have to harvest over a week past optimal window start to see any significant degradation afaik.

Awesome thank you! I’ll be keeping an eye out on the swell and keep you all updated as well 👌🏻

8 weeks and 2 days in flower today and upon checking on her this morning I noticed a lot more of the bigger fan leaves that are still left are pretty much about to die and fall off 😣 I just need her to hang on a couple more weeks max 😬

If they are crispy with a purple petiole like that and fading, you can just pull them off at this point imo. She should let them go easily because she doesn't really need them anymore.

Does the plant pull nutrition from its dying leaves? I know sometimes they fall off before they dry up, but mostly I find mine have completely dried and turned brown as if the plant has sucked all moisture and life from them. Is it perhaps better to just leave them and let the plant decide?

Yes the plant engine room is the leaves it use up the available nutes stored in them . Od .

In general, maybe. The plant imo has already made the call about how important those leaves are by how tight she hangs onto them. I think she uses them later in life mostly as a potential store for nutrients in case she runs out at the root level. In the presence of a grower watching her every need like a hawk, I am curious how many of those are really necessary. I think that, especially in the demonstrated presence of pests in the near past, it's a bit risky to leave decaying, dead matter on the plant or frankly in the environment outside of the soil.

I think that’s why I feel better about pulling them off when they are that dead. They basically come right off at that point anyway and that way it’s not decaying in the grow tent or anything.

So tomorrow is 9 weeks in flower! And I’m thinking I’m going to cut her down tomorrow and start the harvest process. I was able to get a mini magnifier and checked the trichomes and noticed some are turning amber now, while most others appear to be cloudy (in my noob opinion). Most of her big fans leaves have died and fallen off and most of her tips are very burned. I still think that had a lot to do with temp and water ph even before the spider mites. So she’s had a tough go but I’m happy to have made it to this point.

I've begun my harvest also. Same struggle with the mini-magnifier although a tip I got from @One drop was to only look at the buds and not the sugar leaves. I've been seeing amber all over the sugar leaves for over a week now, but the buds themselves were just glowing white with just a few little amber pops. It made the decision making a bit easier for this noob. I really enjoy the trimming job, although I'm terribly slow and fussy at it.

Thank you! I really appreciate that! I’ll definitely update throughout the drying and curing and then final smoke test 👌🏻

Looks really good! And thanks for the advice. Once I checked the buds themselves I saw that they were cloudy and the one cola had some amber ones. I anticipate enjoying the trimming phase, just super new and hoping everything turns out well haha

Late on the update but made it to the curing stage! Took 4 days to dry, humidity was around 40-45% and temp around 72-74 degrees.

Nice, looks like she will be ready to smoke in not too long! What's the smell like so far?
Thank you! I’m hoping curing will only take about 3 weeks. Any advice on that? Honestly kind of reminds me of cat pee lol, I’m hoping that’s not the end result 😬

Also, I smoked the little left over trim just to give it a try before curing and not my favorite lol but I was surprised to actually get a little high from it. Especially since my tolerance is pretty high.
