What do you guys think about this idea 8x8 flood table style RDWC!

My grow area is 25'by 19' roughly. pretty much sliced it in two 1/4-3/4 to get a perpetual harvest going. i was thinking about building a DIY RDWC System. Im technical individual so its not to difficult for me to build something like this. i was thinking making a 8x8 ebb and flow table but use it as RDWC. Build the 8x8 table out of wood 4x8 sheets of play wood im thinking 1/2 inch should do and support rafts and legs under it to support the weight. Maybe 4ft on center rafters /legs should be plenty for sturdiness. as far as the exterior wall im not sure if i would go with 2x8s or 2x10s the bigger i go the more gallons il have to supply. 2x8s would require roughly 117.803 US gallons well id shave 10 gallons or so so i wont flood my floors lol. my top cover would be a pvc viynal material 1/2 thick 4'x8' sections. 3 inch or 6 inch net pots 9 per sq or 4 per sq if im really throwing caution to the wind HAHA . I would lean towards the SOG style due to my ceiling height is only about 8 ft. as far as the plumbing i havent worked that out yet and size pump for this but i believe a 1200 gp should be sufficient. id probably also plumb a water fall/ drip system in tandem with air cans at the bottom of the table spread out strategicaly to help with oxygon. id rather have over kill than not enough. since im building it my self i can fine tune the little things. with such a big table i dont think a 3 inch return would be feasible i doubt i would be able to keep sufficient water levels if its gettin pulled back to res that quickly. maybe i would have to use two diffrent res one for the drip/ spray system and one for the table its self with passive flow. building it is easy but as you can see its alot of unknowns as far as how the water will act in such a large grow area. id love to get input from you guys regarding this. I do a recirculating hempy bucket of sorts. But my buckets are full of large chunk perlite only and they just sit on a drain table. I use two drip lines per bucket. The drain holes in my buckets start about 1 1/2" from the bottom. They also have a lid to keep the perlite from floating.

8 foot x 8 foot??? good luck reaching anything in the middle. If you go over 4 foot wide it would be very hard to reach anything in the center.

i will post pictures as i build along with detailed explanations behind all my choices. ive been researching for about 5 weeks now lol. im ready to start excuting atleast the framing/ initial build at this point.

8 foot x 8 foot??? good luck reaching anything in the middle. If you go over 4 foot wide it would be very hard to reach anything in the center.

yeah man go big or go HOME i got so much space i have to utulize it some how!!!! i didnt think about the middle so much hmmmmm. i could seperate the tables with a 1ft gap essentially making its a 8x9 ft that way i could get to the middle. connect the tables together with 2 inch pvc so one table pulls from the other. same principle with the bucket but instead of buckets a tables. although i been thinkin about the build for past few weeks its obvious i have a few more architectural quirks i need to work out LOL

Just think about where you place this. 118gal is a lot of weight. About 1000lb just in water. Then add wood and factor how many footing to displace the weight.

well the res will sit on the floor which is concrete im not worried about the weight so much with 4 ft on center legs support beams it will be more than sufficient to handle 3 times that weight with a concrete floor . 10 legs in total and 10 support beams/rafter in a 8x8.. if it was being built on top of a joist floor i wouldnt bother with something so massive due to the wait and not knowing if the floor would show any signs of weight. been concrete i didnt even give it a thought but 4ft on center spacing would be enough.

I didn’t do this it wasn’t practical at the time. I wouldn’t mind trying it out on a large scale though.. would take a little Ingenuity.. I’m doing a ebb flow sog style and 0 media atm.

Looks like he’s using flood tables and put pvc board on top and cut out holes 🕳 kinda like my set up. Check out my thread of no grow media what so ever.. I’ll link u

1/2 pec lines connected to his chiller I wonder what size inline pump he’s using those look like 3x8 tables
