I do care, Milson! I’ve looked at the bulb and it’s only $10!

can I just ask you to say whether it has ever seemed to damage the plants?
Yes, honestly. You can overdo it. I think it probably had an effect on my la Confidential yield.

But if you are smart about it, it's fine. Start slow, build up, and pay attention. If you see lots of pistils browning, back off and rotate location etc.

Note the effective range is really only 10-20 inches. So again, you need to rotate. But also again, i am convinced it has an effect.

So I did my first soux vide steak the other day... some of you may remember the supermarket sweep of 2 beef tenderloins.... so I decided rather than buy a soux vide I wanted to try it first.

So after some reading and research (cause thats what I do) I found out I can custom set my insta pot to get a rough idea of how well soux vide works.

I used our food save vacuum and after rubbing them with salt pepper and fresh garlic vacuum sealed em and set the insta pot to 135f dropped in 4 steaks and came back in 2 hrs. They didn't look all that appealing at first but I cut em open and tossed em on thw BBQ set on high and preheated for about 1.5 min a side.

BEST FUCKING STEAK I HAVE EVER EATEN!!!!

Honestly I was concerned over the plastic but after some digging I was ok with it.

End of the week I'm going to try a roast soux vide and see. But if you are a meat eater and not tried soux vide you cannot get a more evenly cooked perfect steak that cuts with a fork than this method.

As a caveman in modern clothes this is all the hype its made out to be.

For anyone still living under a rock like I was. This is the site I used to do it.

Quick ?

I let a cup of runoff sit out..ppm didnt change much but ph went from

Input=6.9
Output before sitting out=7.25
After sitting out 4 hours or so=7.6
Wth? Edit: now its 8.05

Its was ferts in 7.4 water phd 6.9 with K hydroxide.
Blows my mind. It wasnt shaken bubbled or moved in any way...

Im going to repeat this and cover it. Wonder if evap would cause this. RO water was used.

The biggest drawback, like you said, is the pretty gray appearance. A quick sear and you’re good.

Nope that carbonic acid escaping. Was this from the tap at first? Oops reread it yeah respiration will lead to co2 in the rootzone both from plant and microbes. This co2 then form carbonic acid. A little more buffer will help combat this

I areate the water, it drives ph from 6.2 to 7.3, right out of the RO system. This ph occurs over a period of maybe 2 to 3. Days. Should i just make enough .ro that im going to use and not keep any on hand? Makes perfect sense to me.

Ro ph 6.3
Ph of water after 3 days areation= 7.3

Ph of nute solution before fertigation=6.9

First ph test of run off=7.3

4 hours later= 7.5

12 hours after the 4= 8.0

Ph of RO is invalid.

The problem is no alkalinity. You need to add alkalinity, I suggest potassium silicate. If you have potassium bicarbonate (usually ph up) then add it to RO first to create some alkalinity. If you give me the brand I can give you an idea or atleast give you a test to determine an adequate amount. Also don't use citric acid or citric acid based ph down. Stick to sulfuric or phosphoric acid.

Have a read here.

Co2 reacts with water to form carbonic acid. Then that forms bicarbonates.

Well im going to do a little study...lil research!!.....K bicarb jumps my ppms too high.(dont like it) builds up in soil then i gotta flush. My soil ph is too high the way it is....i got K hydroxide ph up(advanced nutes) i got 85% P acid ill maybe get some sillicate. I got dyno tekt silica(ill look for it later). Ive gotta find out more about my waters chemistry....sulfuric acid is a possible carcinogen. I think it is better than P acid though...
