My growing experience in deep water culture.

Day 1 of veg for me ec set at 0.6 :) Move your air pumps above your buckets, because if one of your pumps stops it will syphon out your bucket/buckets.

Day 30 and first day of flower. Took cuttings for the next batch, 15 Pink Kush, 25 Green gelato. Didn't really defol though, planning on doing the last of that at the end of week two in flower of beginning of week three. They're eating heaps, I loaded up on magnesium sulfate as I thought the purple stems were a deficiency. They're eating about 100ppm of calcium a day. I topped up the system to full with filtered tap water and the ppm is currently sitting at 671. Only a week ago the ppm was close to 1000. Will add 100ppm of micro, 150 ppm of MKP and will make the rest up in calcium to 1000.

Like clock work the ppm dropped by about 100ppm it's now down to 573. This is where I do a lot of guess work. I use filtered tap water just to remove the chlorine so the base ppm is still high at around 280ppm. Basically my solution right now isn't much heavier than regular water.

In the left over ppm I'm assuming most of the macro elements are still in good quantity except maybe iron. Nitrogen would be running low by now but I'm going to rely on the nitrogen in monoammonium phosphate to make up for it. Going to load heavy again on calcium, might skip the Mg as I added over 150ppm about four days ago.

About to start work on a veg tent. I don't put half the amount of effort into veg. Basically I just clone till the roots are set, transplant, wait for the plants to look healthy then flip. Still won't be able to do a long veg but at the very least with this tent I should be able to veg for a month before they overgrow the grow area.

The easy part is done, now I have to drill a bunch of holes into this and waterproof it. Having such a small space to veg 24 plants won't be doable for longer than a month but my biggest concern is the roots which will become tangled after two solid weeks of veg. Going to cut lengths of PVC pipe to act as dividers for the root zone.

Still have a few days before I have to finish this. Might not bother with the piping as the next lot of clones will only be in here for a couple of weeks.

The veg garden pretty much bounced back in a day after defol. Gave it another foliar of Chitosan. This time I added yucca for the water dispersion. Such a noticeable difference, super small droplets and it just seems to coat the leaves a lot better.

Just experienced the biggest ppm drop in a single day in my growing history. From 990+ down to 747. I'm assuming it's the 200+ ppm of calcium I added but from here on out I'm flying blind in regards to what is actually left in that solution.

I never knew that but now you mention it that makes sense. I will find something to place them on thank you for your advice :)

Any time I try and get fancy with my cloning, I have less success. I may have left them in high humidity for too long or the temps got too high. The pink Kush rooted pretty well and only lost 3 out of 15 but I'm not going to use any of the Gelato's if they root, lost close to half of them. Went back to basics and did the cut then plopped into dechlorinated tap water.

Took these cuttings yesterday, zero wiltage since and the leaves even look perky.

I no longer am growing with flood lights lol. They did enough of a job but not good enough if you want to be serious with it.

Harvested the current room. The jobs getting bigger and bigger. Will seriously have to consider hiring help.

second lot including the banners on the bottom.

Ended up with bang on 1kg with that first lot that was pictured. Nothing flash weight wise but still above 1g per watt, barely.

The current flower room is going nuts. Half way through week 3 and want to do one more heavy defol today or tomorrow but it needs to be done real soon. They're eating sooooo much. In less than 5 days the ppm went from 1080 down to 680.

Been a while since my last update, currently at the beginning of week five. Had a semi disaster with a few bad occurrences, weak air pump, a hole in one of the hoses. Lost two plants but the garden is back in full swing.

Let the lights get too close and burnt a few tops.

Pink Kush had the worst of it but looks to be doing alright.

This was the defol done just after my last update.

This little plant has been sitting here for two months (1 month of veg 1 month of flower) without a change of feed, air bubbles and it has only been getting indirect light in a room that gets up 31 degrees Celsius. Yet I lose two plants to over feeding 😂

It was from the same batch. This photo shows how much difference direct light makes.

Few days into week 5. Really happy with this run even though there is a lot of inconsistency in the canopy. Next run should be better.

Still haven't cleaned out the other room for the next. Can be hard battling depression while still getting work done. This room was a reflection of my head space, cleaning it out today.

Forgive me if you've answered this, what are you using for your bulkheads on the sites? Also, what was your solution for the return to epicenter outside the tent? How'd you go about light sealing and ensuring the fabric didn't tear over time?

I'm looking at building a much smaller UC system and the biggest hurdle I've come across is the bulkhead choice. Plus, cutting a hole in the tent, but that's nothing compared to pretty much the only 3" bulkheads I've found are made by CC, and at $20 USD a piece, for the amount I need that's $180 just by itself.

Honestly buying uniseals was the most expensive part in my system too. I had them left over otherwise I would have gone with proper bulkheads that have a screw connection. 3" is good, bigger is always better but that was the largest I went due to cost. The input into the system can be smaller though as it has the pump forcing it through.
