got a 70"x34" window that i need to blackout without looking suspicious to my neighbors. The window is also being used for exhaust.

Will having an exhaust out the window with one of those air conditioning kits be more suspicious? the place won't be lived so i guess i could actually exhaust into the rest of the house?

The window already has white blinds on it (the ones that hand and twist), also i have cheap blackout curtains that i could move into this room on this window.

yes, having a window cracked open with a hole in it and air blowing out is odd. either vent into the other parts of the house or cut out a spot in the closet ceiling and vent into the attic.

as for light proofing the window, get a huge sheet of foam from the big box hardware store and cut it exact to the size of the window, then jam it in there. if the blinds are mounted closest to he window, there is likely room for the foam on top of it. That will look like miniblinds from outside. Then hang panda film or black out curtains over top of that. If the miniblinds are mounted flush with the wall, either move them back or cover the foam with a black sheet and stuff it behind the blinds then hang curtain or panda.

if you just hang panda over the window, likely to get condensate and thus mold/mildew growth hence the foam. extra insulation is always helpful.

I like to staple the panda to a 1"x2" board then use picture hangers to hang the board at very top of the wall with panda flush against the wall top to bottom. When you remove the panda, minimal disturbance to the wall. Same with the foam stuffing, no glue or tape or nails/screws used.

I love it, thank you.

well, its hot around here, so a lot of people have these air conditioning kits with panels and a hole for the air conditioner so i thought it might be fine, but i like the cutting a hole and venting in the attic, the only problem is its not a house, and there are neighbors above lol, could it still work?

the window is flush with the exterior of the wall and there's a small window sill, the original hanging blinds are mounted on the upper sill part and flush with the interior wall so i could mount anything on the interior wall and it would be behind the original blinds. i will post a pic of the blinds to show you what im looking at.

growing in an apartment complex is just a bad idea, too many variables. good luck with that though
too risky? there really rundown apts and its the most legal state for cannabis. ive heard of others who rent out apts just to grow in them. I know its risky but anyway to make it work? stuck in a bad spot and cannot get out of lease and it will be empty. so i figured i might try a grow to recoup some of the rent.

Agreed. Find a house to rent if you're looking for a residential op. You're asking for all kinds of problems, not to mention risking other people's lives with your shenanigans.

What if you have a circuit light up due to overload? A new family upstairs with an infant, and infant dies from smoke inhalation because you decided to play fuck around and burn their home down along with everyone else around em?

Come on dude. If you're about it, be about it. Otherwise, re-evaluate what you're doing and come correct.

if you use leds, you could get away with using the central a/c. HIDs is going to need supplimental a/c and doing that stealth is dam near impossible. If water is included in rent, could use a water cooled a/c for boats. they are fairly quiet.

I got king size bed sheets( black of, course) folded it over about 3, 4 times and screwed it in around the framing of my window ..went outside at night to see if any light leaks through...nothing

got an AC in the window and just wrapped it around it

Net curtains with a white sheet behind it, then a black out board.

I've you've got an old window AC, couldn't you maybe gut it so it still looks like an AC on the outside, and just vent into the shell of the AC?

Then, for extra stealth, have a timer to drip water out of the thing, periodically. Maybe make it bong water for special occasions, like 4/20.

NEVER VENT INTO YOUR ATTIC or house for that matter unless it s nto a room with a dehuey to pull the moisture out. Unless you want to completely ruin your place with mold.

Can Jimmy jig window attachment for portable AC or as mentioned above just shell out a window shaker.

I would not modify electrical in any manner and stick to plug and play only. You could put yourself in a position to be liable. The breakers are there for protection of overload.

Many people grow in apartments legally and I will assume this is legal.
