Smallest amount I've pressed is that one nug one time.

14 gm at a time is the norm for me.

With 2 gm pucks id be there forever.

Sherbet punch 4 month cure.
Seems to me the older the flower the darker the rosin.

So, unrelated to the post, but there's this old strain I ran across back in 2006 called blue moon rocks. That shit was.... something else. Carry on.
I stumbled over that one the other day, I'll try and remember or find where it was

Sweet! Do t get me wrong I dab it all blasted and pressed- prefer pressed fir sure. I just find it ironic to use organic bud to chemically remove trichs

Fire in fire out bro bro, the trichs and terps don't have an opinion on whether they should be squished or blasted.

I get what you're saying tho - would def be ironic if I were growing organic to avoid chemicals. I grow organic to get the best tasting resin for hash :)

Ok so dont roast me for the plant material in my rosin lol :))) I had to press it without bags. Sort of ran out of them in my starter kit with err "testing" (dry weed is bad and high heat is bad and too much is bad and too little is a pain in the ass...) and had to run without them.

Seems like 2 grams in a compact puck is good. My machine is little :) Anyway, question please. I tried to light up my rosin pic to show it but it looked like theres a translucent layer of something over the stuff. Did I do something wrong? A sample of the bud I pressed is in the pic. HSC Purple Mountain Majesty.

It goes through all sorts of consistency changes the longer you let it sit, at some temperatures the terps will seperate from the cannabanoids.

So... I went for the Rosineer Presso just to try this out. Ok for the record a 2 x 3 inch space sucks to work in. Pressure good, and temps were fine, within a degree. But then I noticed shit was missing. Like 2 magnets. And then I looked harder at the silicone mat, the fact that two magnets were missing and no parchment paper was included like it said it would be. And then the scratches on the plates suddenly made sense. It wasn't a mfg defect. It was a clean up and return. Those guys sent me a used machine. The Amazon did. Fucking hell.

So I contacted Rosineer. They assured me they were going to file a complaint with Amazon about their screw up and I should get it ready for UPS to pick it up. Ok that fucking sucks. Now I have to REALLY clean the shit out of this thing and make it all sparkly and wonderful again without a trace of anything on it. Lovely.

They offered to upgrade me to their "manual press" that looks like the 1970's amusement park rides where you had to work really hard to turn the shit around yourself. Remember that? Who was the wise ass that came up with THAT shit? Probably the great grandfather of the person who came up with a manual press. That's great. So those rubber feet are going to have super human sucking power and will withstand 3000lbs while anchoring it's mighty ass to the counter... on rubber feet... against all that pressure... won't move. Yeah ok call bullshit cause I don't believe it. No freaking way. But someone here probably has one, squeezes butter out of it, and is about to prove me really wrong, watch.

So... my first choice was actually a Dabpress. So I went for it. 4 tons is way more than enough. Plates are a lot bigger. Size really does matter. The truth is out. Once again the old rule... you get what you pay for is dead on balls accurate. It's not like the Dabpress is a ton of money either compared to Nugsmasher and other presses out there. But the reviews on YouTube look good. Guys here that I respect are using it and love it. So hopefully I'll fall in love too.

All I know is that my wife hasn't asked me to roll a joint all day lol.

Uh oh.

I went with the 12 ton over the 10 ton.

12 ton, 4x7 heat pads with dual 300 watt in each pad.

10 ton, 3x5 heat pads with single 300 watt in each pad.

12 ton was about 150$ more by the time you add the rubber feet

I'm a light weight in this arena still dipping my toes in the water so I went for the baby... 4 ton. But I'm sure it's just a matter of time lol because... upgrades good...

So... the 4 ton Dabpress + GSC = Getting Better. 3.5gr 210F 120 micron bag. WAAAAAY light on the pressure.

Should have got this thing in the first place.

Anyone have any insights regarding higher quality? Will a smaller micron bag help that along? TIA

Good stuff! I usually run 190, 180 is a little tastier.

Nice ! Dabs away- 200 is my starting place 180-190 gets ya a little better quality - I don’t use bags / don’t mind a little marijuana taste! Lmao

just play around with it - every batch is a little different - a art form in my opinion

I'm hunting for that almost white butter consistency. I got it ONCE from a purple mountain majesty run. That bud is still curing though. Really want to let it finish up. I pressed that stuff at 210 and was shocked when it came rolling out like that.

Agreed re: art form. Man it's all different from strain to strain. I was pressing without bags, but then I think was going too heavy with the pressure and would get it squishing out the front. So I switched to bags. Finally figured out what makes the bottle tech method work but I can't get past gold. I think that part is probably a combination of the bud being squished and the micron size of the bag.

So how do you do it without making a mess? I'm assuming much less than a 7 gram puck on 3 x 5 plates? Help me Moshy! Hahahahah :))) I'm a rookie again.

Blue dream on 180 makes a white almost crumble.

Well I’m no pro! Lmao but I have played around a bit - for our personal use I have the best luck pressin 2-3 gram pucks - when I do large squishes I do use the bags - I just feel for my skill level the smaller batch is the way to go- if I want more budder consistency and better flavor I press at lower temps 180-190 but again it depends on the strain and plant.
I feel like I get the best product when I use bud that has been dried and cured for couple weeks if it gets to dry I will use a boveda to bring it back to around 60% ( only time I use those things )

Usually when I get that “blow out” ur describing it’s to much pressure to quick . I don’t have a pressure gage in my press so it’s all feel. Lol

I bring plates down with minimal pressure on the puck , let heat up for 20-25 seconds then increase pressure over the next 30 seconds or so then wait till the wax stops flowing - whole process usually 2 minutes or so

I’m goin have to press some bud this evening now! Lol
