I wanted to ask you something about potatoes, so I plant them year round, whenever I have one that starts to chit. But I notice that they only pop up shoots and leaves after a rain, even if I water regularly. Is that normal? Have you had success growing spuds without rain?

Cool, thanks 🤜🤛

I can only grow in summer here so I've got a bigger plot of ground and spuds chitting now I try to get 3 crops in each season

Mine seem to come up during the winter, the leaves will dye back when I get a frost, but new ones will replace them fast enough that the spuds keep going. I have trouble growing them in my hot dry cali summers. They do best during the spring for me, but my springs are super short.

Wow! So glad I saw this thread. I've just started growing both a couple years ago in my yard with 7 raised beds of tomatoes, corn, eggplant, peppers, garlic, onions, cucumbers, herbs, as well as cherry, plum, and pear trees that should hopefully start bearing fruit this year, fig trees in pots, and planted blueberry bushes this fall. I'll most likely add more fruit trees this spring like apples, peaches, and maybe another variety or 2 of pears.

Got the kids into th ed swing of it. Showed them how a capsicum can't seed a few hundred. They are stoked. Got lettuce coming up and cherry tomorrow.ill have to dig out all my veggie seeds I stored last year and get them started to plant out on the farm

Good work passing on the love and knowledge to the next generation 👍😁

You can see the difference between worm juice and straight water. Chalk n cheese
Agree completely. I have used worm juice on my veges for years. Using it now on my first cannabis grow and am very happy with progress being a beginner.

Consider putting in a peach tree if there is a variety that suits you climate. I didn't think peaches were that great until I ate one ripe off the tree. How wrong I was.

makin me itch to have all the funds in line to buy a property man... this is on the agenda. In the rental I'm at now, we have two raised beds, one 12ft x 19ft and another that is 3ft x 10ft, and while they're decent for tomatoes and lettuce (main crops we run), I want some fruit trees, and berry bushes. Won't grow corn again, not in this region at least. We have a problem with earwigs to begin with, growing corn seemed to make the population explode.

Best of luck to you. All I can say is that it is worth it.
I was lucky enough to buy a few acres 12 months ago. Reviving the old orchard, plenty of room to rotate summer and winter crops, my first ever cannabis grow outdoors - all with my dog and chickens getting under my feet. I have been kissed on the dick!

team work makes the dream work! even if the teammates are stinky and feathered lol I'm just fed up with the city, dreaming non-stop of acreage and privacy, and quiet. Room for the kids to explore without the risks of city life. room to grow big, not just cannabis, but in general. a place for ideas to expand and flourish. and most of all, a place that i can tell motherfuckers to leave, because i own it.

Had a pretty good one last year.Plan on a larger one this year.Used vegetables and sunflowers for camoflage.
