Happy Sunday everyone. Just have a question in regards to flipping plants. I read that on average plants will grow another 2-3 feet after you flip them. I have a 5 foot tent so I flipped my plants a few weeks after topping them when they reached about a foot, as to not grow into my lights. However, I'm in week 9 of flowering and they've grown 5-6 inches tops lol Really wishing I would've let them veg another month at this rate - I could've yielded so much more. Just curious what other peoples experiences have been?

Just a little background on my setup. I'm growing LSD and Amnesia Haze in 5 gallon smart pots with temperature and humidity control, with a 1000wat LED grow light.

Any and all responses would be appreciated 😎

Depends on the strain and whether they are big enough to flip and produce. I think if you flip too early the roots aren't developed enough and you won't reach peak performance. You can control the branches an bend them down if they get too close. Nothing wrong with bent buds imo.

That's a basic start point. It all comes down to the genetics of the plant, who breeded it etc. Some places say it will double in height, some say it could potentially triple in height. Just gotta let the girls do their thing. Also what light are you using mate?

Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm using a 1000w Mars hydro light, cranked all the way up for flowering. They look amazing so far, just wish I would've let them get taller before flipping now! Honestly, I was never expecting them to look this nice lol First time grower, so this is all trial and error for me. In addition to the light I'm using fox farm ocean mix, mixed with Natures Living soil, so I'm growing organically in 5 gallon smart pots(at least from what I've read, I know some people don't consider that to be organic).

What kind of light? The so called fake 1000w LED is probably really only 100w or so. If you want bigger buds you need better light and plenty of food.

Yeah, that's a good point! A lot to learn still. First time grower, so this is all trial and error. I appreciate the reply!

They look good. If you had vegged longer you would have wasted time and space, since 90% of the buds will be on the top foot. Yeah, you might grow a little more with a longer veg, but not worth the extra time.

Yeah, I thought this may be the issue. I got the tent, light, inline fan etc. all in a bundle not knowing how far I'd want to take this, but now I'm hooked lol So, looks like ill be in the market for another light/tent in the future. Any recommendations on a good light? This is the light it came with though...

Are you referring to the mars hydro ts1000? If so then I'm afraid to tell you that it isn't actually 1kw it is actually 150w. I also have this light and am currently waiting for my upgrade to come. Your nugs look hella gorgeous tho very well done for your first grow, wish my first went as good as yours lol. But its probs good you didn't let them veg any longer as you wouldn't have sufficient light. Keep it up tho your grows will get better and better. Happy growing

Is that 2 x 2? I think the light is working good. Some strains stretch more than others and I would think the haze should have stretched more. But with todays seeds you never know. One tip that might make more stretch is instead of 12-12, flip to 13-11 for the first 2 weeks, then add another hour dark to make it 12-12.

The topping/training can really dampen the stretch.... If you had grown single cola plants you most likely would have gotten taller plants but at the cost of yield per plant...

I'm growing some clones that my buddy gave me - he warned me that one of the strains was really stretchy (he grows more SOG style)... i topped them multiple times and tied them down and didn't get much stretch at all...

I appreciate the feedback! Definitely appears that this issue could be caused by a number of things. Makes me wish my tent was quadruple the size, so I could let them get taller during veg.

How many plants you thinking of running?
I'd have a look at the mars hydro tsw2000, tsl2000, ts3000 and maybe even the sp3000
Also spider farmer is a good brand to use, I'd have a look at the SF2000 and the SF4000.
These all cost a fair amount more than the ts1000 but definitely have a look.

Thank you for the tips! So many conflicting things online about lights, so I appreciate it. Right now I only have a tent sustainable for 2 plants, but preferable I'd like to grow 4-6 at a time, nothing crazy. For now lol
