lol, good to know! you all seem so savvy about things! thank you for the info though, i am really enjoying the excellent community here!

the light... i have read their suggestions, and listened to a bunch of videos... now i feel i have too much info and im pretty sure some is just wrong! lol.

when i start the seeds and put them in the bag planter where it spends the rest of its life - when i first place the seed in the soil, how high and on what settings should the light be?

everything i am waiting for found its way onto a truck headed my way right now!

this is how silly i am, i got home chef for the month so i dont have to worry over shopping or cooking, i can just do plant staring... did i mention, I'M EXCITED!

I can relate to the "excited" part! I'm currently in my first grow with a 2' x 4' tent. Even with my very limited experience, I can offer this...be careful not to overwater. I've been off work with the lockdown and have ample time...I've had to try to resist the urge to do too much.

Good luck with your grow!

A good indication for watering is to leave the outer edge of the pot dry to indicate the color of dry soil, water close to the plant leaving a light colored outer circle. As it dries the inner wet circle will shrink to the color of the outer, indicating it needs watering when gone. Just a rough estimate.
There's also sticking you finger into the soil and feeling how dry it is!!

ok, now that was a busy day!

i am hanging the panda paper, had to do it alone, so i just tried till i figured a way.

should i go up further?

a lot of unique design went into actually accomplishing this much. the light, well, i had planned to hang it from the ceiling, and it is hung from the ceiling, but ... when i planned and bought, i figured a plant hook. i got one and was prepared. then i figured it needed an anchor to be center, the beam is not center. i got one, prepared! the job at hand, hang light, i was ready... well, the anchor (who would have known there were different types) ... so to skip over all the not too successful ideas, i eventually got a camera strap, and screwed the screw through it into the ceiling and it hangs down and i clipped the light to it. the paper... well, i highly recommend growing a couple more hands, and i googled... wrinkles are not so bad. this is coffee time, but i will cover the bottom of the tub soon.

i have to get my second stage of the vaccine today, but i will get it done before my seeds need it

im wondering if i should cover the actual tub? im trying to figure out how... round hole square peg thing.

so, im going to drink more coffee and ponder - any direction would be great! my decision making at this point is a bit iffy. it is sort of funny, i am the basic rebel, and i balk at anyone telling me what to do, but sometimes i just wish someone would just tell me, im soooooo clueless! coffee will fix that though and i will dive in again. i mean, i can obviously do this, i mean look... i have a light hanging from a camera strap in a garden tub...

edit: the plants in the sour cream containers are just bag seed. i was advised to toss them, lots of good sound reasons too... but they are soooo ... so i have arranged for them to have a new home in a few days.

my seeds are still in water for a few more hours, then into the soil and the journey gets kicked off!

the temp stays about 73 to 75, except at night, then it is 71 pretty steady. what the meter said was 69.2, but that is because i just had let the dog out and had the door open a while, and i had forgotten to close off that space. the humidity stays about 50.5 - not much i can do about that till i get the humidifier in. for future pics i will make sure it can be seen.

do you see purple? i mean, has your brain adjusted to not really notice things in a purple hue? i always think of things like that, how the human brain can, over time, compensate for things like that. my friend works in a clean environment that uses black light, and he just "sees" things normally, things i cant even see. we kid him at clubs, he can see all the details we miss (the stuff not lit up!) with the black lights on.

yours are very pretty! how long to get them to that size? tomorrow, the bag seed i planted while waiting on the good seeds are not even that big and they are 2 weeks tomorrow!

got my humidifier in! this should help some. just plugged it in! i had gotten it up to right at 60% with a bucket of water and an aquarium heater. so this should do a better job and more precise.

i had some old cookie cooling racks and put them under the 2 big pots so they dont sit on the ground. besides the big pots - the others are the bag seed i just started for no good reason, lol. the poor gal in front has been through it, i have knocked her over and almost fell on her and set her too close then too far from the light, but she is showing no worse for the abuse. i am planning on getting them a new home and just have the two, but it hasnt worked out yet.

is there something wrong with this one? it is starting day 4 and has a little hole and some spots. could it be where i sprayed water on it or is it something bad?

IDK man could just be water damage. I know letting those little beads of water sit on the tender seedlings is not good. Something about the light magnifies through the water and burns the leaves. I always make sure after watering I give my seedlings a tender little flick if they have any drops on them. Cool little set up btw! I grew in a tub exactly like that twenty years ago...
