Optimal number of tops/colas in a 2x2

It depends on the plant I'm growing as much as the size of the tent. I've got an indica and a sativa growing now. The indica looks like it will get leaves pinched to open up bud sites but not topped and the sativa is more open and gets more structure change. Big Bud from Dinafem on the left which is a week younger than Easy Haze from Philosophers Seeds on the right. Big Bud has 2 phenotypes, indica or sativa. This one is indica with very little space between nodes and wider leaves.

I would say 8, myself, I have a 32 x 32 inch tent that is bursting with 8, but there are more variables than just tent dimensions.
