Hi there wonderful growers. I have 3 strains , some with bright white pistils some with half and one strain with pretty much all the pistils being brown. Only 6 weeks in flower on 8-10 week strains. I can’t really get a close up on trichomes i will have to try harder. Are pistils also an indicator on harvest time or do some strains just have more of that brown hairy look? The two pictures with two buds are comparison of pistils , left one being the question.

Should toss out some new ones. It's not uncommon to see that in many strains. .

Buds "look done" (white stigmas turn brown) about a week or two before the plant is actually done, judging from amber trichs. Consider white stigmas turning brown just a stage of development before ripeness.

I think in your case there's nothing to be alarmed about --- however in some cases pistils turning brown can be either a.) sign of stress (climate: heat/humidity/wind), or b.) that it was pollinated....

From the looks of it you’d say it’s time to start flushing then?

They did start turning brown early on maybe week 4 but this strain has like 95 percent amber Trichomes I haven’t seen new white ones

Any recommendations on proper equipment to check trichomes? I’m also confused on where exactly to look at. On the buds themselves or the small leaves sticking out of them?

On the calyx ....seed pod bro.the leaves amber up sooner so we dont go by the leaves..

I use a 60x loupe they are pretty cheap and do the job fine..
I think the one Im using is a 30x jewelers loupe maybe that’s why Im having a hard time checking them. Thank you for your reply!
