Hey I recently received a light from mars hydro, a tsw2000. I have noticed when the light is plugged in but turned off, one half of the panel continues to glow very dim while the other turns off which is an obvious problem. After looking around a bit I am starting to find more people with this issue, mars hydro sent me a driver replacement which didn't fix anything, I have checked every connection and they are all good. They now want me to send away a brand new light so they can look at it n will ship a new one once received which to me is unacceptable... Why would I buy a light to use it for a week and ship it off and be without a light. Has anyone else had this issue or had to deal with mars hydro on getting a ONE WEEK old light replaced without being without a light in the mean time? Don't mean to sound sour but this seems like very poor customer service and I haven't smoked yet this morning hahah

One of the main reasons I didn't use mars (other than the stupid price for sub par components) is because they use cheap components. They charge more than what they should if they were using good parts. But they are using lower quality, cheaper parts and trying to rip you off by selling them at almost double the price.

Usually an led will stay on even after you turn it off if the driver is cheap. Basically the resistance of the LEDs so low they.. well here is a video I watched a while back that explains it.
I had the same problem with a cheap led driver from ebay.

The driver is supposed to have a large load resistor on the output to load down the LEDs. They however are not cheap. So cheap drivers dont include them, or they include wimpy ones that dont work or fry easily.

You could buy a mean well driver, or return that pos and get a kingbrite 🤣

How? Isnt it a 3 prong plug? And if not wouldn't it have the one prong larger than the other?
I think i remember the plug was European or something and both sides were the same. Not for sure I remember it all.

Hey guys thanks for getting back to me so quick and sharing the info you have. Seems like mars hydro build quality isnt what it should be for the price, with the headache I've dealt with up to this point I'm tempted to return and just go with another brand lol. I had a fan go out on me in an old phlizon light from amazon and msged them for a replacement fan and received a whole replacement light sent to me free of charge the next day for the inconvenience and that company isnt as large or been around for as long as mars hydro has. I'll wait for a reply from them but Im now thinking of changing brands. Can you guys recommend lights for around the same price point as this one? I have a 4x6 flower space so need something with good coverage that doesn't require selling an organ to buy.

I don’t see how this would be an issue if you’re connecting it to a timer. The timer will cut all electricity from the fixture so there shouldn’t be any light emitting from it. If it doesn’t then somethings wrong with the timer. I leave my lights on and by that I mean the switch is always on and I turn it on and off through a timer.

⬆️ Solid info. Simple. Problem solved. Don’t waste anymore money than you need to on a light.

Lol. This issue is posted for kingbrite lights more than a few times on the chinese knock off light thread on riu.

I am pretty sure it is from bad wiring or actual shorts on the circuit board.

The popular builders frequented those threads. Like the owners of hlg and timber. They showed many quality issues, counterfeit diodes and such with the chinese knockoffs including kingbrite and meiju. The two older and more popular shenzen companies. (If they are even really different companies.)

Well yes using a timer is an easy fix to the
problem but leaves me wonder about a few things...
1. Is this problem going to cause the light to fail prematurely, is it causing damage to the driver etc since it's seeing a lower then nominal current when this occurs?

2. Does this run a risk of possibly starting a fire since it's obviously not assembled properly/ theres a short or bad ground.

3. Should consumers just accept faulty build quality from manufacturers, or is that the cause for build quality being what it is?

Also i know of more then a couple people who had a timer malfunction on them and cost them a crop, I don't think they would rely on a timer again lol.

Maybe so, but kingbrite is at least cheaper. 🤣👍

Yes!! I have only had my TS3000 for 3 weeks, suddenly only half of the lights were working. I can't even get a reply from customer service!! So frustrating that my plants are now exposed to crappy lighting while I gotta figure this out. I decided to order a new one so they at least have partial light for the next 3 days. Hoping this doesn't damage my first grow🙄 ( i have figured out one of my drivers isn't working) ANNOYING!! Guess i picked the wrong company for lights...

Tsl2000 working far better than expected for a 2x4 tent kit. Hell I cant even turn it up past 75% without frying the girls, every time I try, burn burn burn.

Seems like the light would be more evenly distributed with is raised and turned up all the way.

Recently got the mars 2000 kit. No issues with light or anything else. Mine is 24" above seedlings and turned way down to get 5k lux. On timer that came with the kit. I would buy it again.

Seems like they aren't that good for seedlings. I use cfl and start at 10k lux. Day 4 I'm at 14k and the plant loves it. My hlgs suck for seedlings.

For sure, just limited to the height of the tent atm, its all the way up unfortunately.

For sure a great starter kit in my eyes. I didnt really price shop all to well, and had no idea what I needed. I just knew I wanted LED hydro lol. . totally no regrets.
