about to harvest, several questions

im in a family situation, so i am not at home a lot as i was from the beginning. my mother is 90 and my sis, whom she lives with had a shoulder repair, so i am "helping" (something at which i am very sucky)...

well, all that and i havent been staring and worrying over the plants. i let them get too hot for a couple hours (84f for 2.33 hours). the bagseed one that has had problems from infancy, showed some signs and i raised the light and moved her to a new position, seemed to work.

the auto caramelicious seemed unscathed and they are the ones i care about. this morning i had some time and stared some... one of the two auto caramelicious looks great! the other is not looking normal. i assume it is foxtailing. new bits at the top growing up, and bits poking out at weird places and like little spires.

im thinking, harvest that one. before the foxtailing, i thought it would be about ready by tuesday but on tuesday i had no time to check really, but my research shows that strain from that breeder normally harvests at 13 weeks, hardly ever after and the ones before that i think were early, so im fairly comfortable that it is close. before the foxtails, the hairs were all orange and mostly knotted up. the trichomes are about at 15 to 20%.

i didnt take a lot or a great pic before i had to leave,

should i wait? (everybody seems to need to wait!)

when i harvest do i put it in dark for 48 hours (or more or less)? if so, does it need to be total dark, im not sure i can do that. the "drying area" is set, but does it need to be totally dark too?

It doesn't have to be dark and cool. But dark and cool make a better product. If the genetics are good, the smoke will be good even if it wasn't dried in perfect conditions. If the genetics suck, it don't matter how well you dry it. It will still be garbage.

ok, the genetics, i think, are decent. it is from MSNL and it is Auto Caramelicious (i know, damn russian rope plant, lol). they have a decent reputation, and it is holland! i use to love it there!

does it look like it is ready to harvest to you? do the foxtails matter so much? it is not genetic foxtailing, i actually did it to her! im not marketing anything, so i dont mind the look for me. but if it will hurt the smoke, ill cut her down.

the drying area is where i can keep it a pretty steady 48-52% rh and 67-68f, but not really dark, just no lights. just the flash of light from a passing car or the street light down the way, and they are around the corner from the window, so nothing direct.

im a weird old granny, and i am fickle i suppose... i want to harvest... im just attached, and hate to see her dying! i guess i am looking for someone to say "yeah, kill her!"

on a side note... i have a german shepherd, it is spring... so... he has a shedding issue! i am noticing in some pictures that there is a dog hair (like in this pic). is there a way to get rid of them? i live with a dog, and have all my life, so a little dog hair is in my life. if i cant get rid of it, it is ok, just wondered if there is a trick to it?

i dont let him in the room, so it is not a lot. thanks!

oh! and another question, is it better to chop her first thing after lights on, or last thing after a day of light?

i will try to find that online, but being nurse maid for mom and my sis has crimped my googling abilities, so i am kinda dependent on y'all.

lights come on at 8pm et, and i guess i will chop her unless someone pipes up with some different views or advice.

and another... i have read it is good to take off the fan leaves at first, then hang. then i have read not to. and wet trim and dry trim - i think dry trim sounds better, but im not sure of the advantages of either. oh my! i miss google!

if you can, please help, i am sort of out of other means to find info while im here helping my 90 year old mom and my sister after shoulder repair surgery.

Chop them when the trichomes are the right color. Time of day doesn't matter.

Depending on your climate there's different ways you should trim. If you're in a normal climate, not too hot not too cold, good RH%, just pick a way to dry and cure after doing some research on how.

I’ve grown a few strains from msnl and they always on point with what they say they are so u should be right with your genetics good luck
