Is this insect damage on my outdoor grow?

Came out to my outdoor patch to find what looks like to be some sort of insect damage. Can anyone confirm and if so what kind are they? I live in Illinois if that helps…

Yes. Maybe thrips.

It's not thrips. But treatment is always the same for soft bodied insects. Hit em with the spinosad and the DE. Or the Sulphur and pyhretherine.

No way that’s thrip. Never seen this type of damage, so going to guess Brood X cicada. (Actually I have no freaking idea. But it looks like a big bug.)
