What Kind of Socket Assembly for Vertical

I am looking for the correct socket assembly for my 1000w MH and HPS, with a Quantum ballast. Most of the socket assemblies have the cord coming out of the side which will make the bulb hang horizontally. Does anyone know what kind and where I can get a socket assembly that is compatible with a 1000w digi system and has the cord on the tip of top side so it will hang perfectly straight, like the bulbs and sockets in DD's grow.

Oh yeah, another grower told me to never hang the bulb by the power cord, but it looks like you do it with no problems. Are there potential hazards when hanging the bulb by the cord?

i agree. the bulb is no where near heavy enough to cause damage to the socket on its own. these lights use some serious gauge wire and would take heavy weights to even think of snapping it.
the only things i can think of that could damage it (other than electrical acts of God) are:

-accidental contact with gardner. :D
-something heavy falling from above hitting the light or tangling in the cord

also, take care if foliar feeding tall plants. its really not good to hit a hot bulb with cool liquids. (keep in mind oils from your hands are liquids. i screw my bulbs in with a sock on my hand. call me paranoid.......)

take care of these variables and it should be smoooooth sailin. brah.

anyone hear from heath anymore? dude used to rock some nice "verticular" grows. his insight as well as doubleds would be a potential goldmine for people looking to take this route.

If hum is high in the room also watch for water vapor dripping off the cord into the fixture. Waterproof the connection to the housing. Some would recommend a drip loop in the cord (not a bad idea).

Pick up a Sun System cord. It has a mogul and a base as well as a hanger for vertical hanging- basically made for vert hanging.
