All the old damage will get worse and die that's normal. You flushed and the go back to feeding 1000ppm? The flush was to fix the overfeeding to begin with. Light is still to close imo because of the plant health.

Have you looked for mites?

Back that light off... not 3" but back it off to like 30" and let then recover... when plants aren't healthy and you keep pounding em with light the only thing you gonna do is make it worse.
agree-back the light way off. Flush until the runoff is under 200ppm and the top it off with 400ppm.

Yes keep flushing untill ppm is the same coming out the bottom as what u pour in the top , the reason ur ph is so much lower is because there is nutrients stuck in ur medium , nutrients are designed to lower ph . Hope this helps.

Alright thanks for the feedback guys.

I definitely don't have any expectation for this crop.

My lights in previous cycles were 17" from canopy with no trouble so I didn't think I needed to back them off THAT much, but I'm gonna back them off more today when they turn on.

And I thought 1000 ppm for early flower was ideal so that's why I fed back at that.

My bundles of Promix I used for this cycle were sitting around for maybe 3 months before transplanting these into it and I'm starting to wonder if that has something to do with it.

I've changed nothing in the past year of running this room.
It's crazy how following the exact same recipe in the exact same room with the exact same strain can have such wildly different results.

I checked under a scope, no mites or bugs of any sort. I use azamax as a preventative all through veg.

Ill try flushing harder on the next watering, and maybe giving no feed until the next time they dry out?

I didn't give 3 times my pot size the last flush because I thought it to be overkill since I used drip clean in combination.
I have 5 gallon pots so I put like 3.5 gallons through each and got a ton of runoff.

I'll keep updating regardless of the progress or decline. Hopefully this thread helps someone else out on the future.

Even if it's not the cause of the issue , I'm not stocking up on Promix to sit on any more. I'm buying fresh bags everytime I transplant.

And thanks again everyone , I really appreciate the feedback here.

I'm realizing that going by my markers of previous runs wasn't a good call after the issue occured.

Sick plants seem to need far less of everything to heal I'm learning from you guys. Less nutes, less light.

I'll remove the dead leaves too after flush, I normally de-leaf on day 21 anyway which is tomorrow. I'll update with pictures then 👍

I don't think promix sitting around is the problem. I have a bag sitting around over a year that works good. How long does it normally sit in a warehouse before being shipped to a grow store and sits around more?

I'm goin to say don't remove affected leafs untill the problem is solved in my experience if you remove the before you've solved the problem it will move onto other leafs , once the damage stops completely then remove the affected leafs 🍃.. hope this makes sense

Okay makes sense. I'll wait a while after flush and backing off lights further to de-leaf. Thanks

Agree. If the leaves have more to give- let them give until they have nothing left to give.

One more question actually...

Should I wait for pots to dry out again for heavy flush or should I just do it even though they're still damp??

Plants are big enough where I don't think overwatering should be an issue

If the plants are big enough you should be ok but only you can judge that! I had to do it a wile ago and did it over a couple of days to let them dry out a bit because my plants had not fully rooted the pots out , if u feel like they need to dry out a bit let them but like I say only you can judge that one mate

For sure, I wanna get all that salt out but I don't wanna drown em. I think I'll wait another day to flush again.

And I just saw the post about how long does the Promix sit around in warehouses, I'm unsure but that's a good point. Thanks all

+1 it’s not the promix
it’s flushing the promix and adding ph up and down etc the ruins the ph buffers in promix.
i grow with promix all the time.
99% of plant problems indoor is caused by human error.

For sure, thanks for the feedback. So you never add pH up or down to your water?
You let the Promix regulate itself? What is your tap water out of the faucet pH at?

Mine come out about 6.5. after adding nutrients it's usually about 6.3, then I add a some pH down to bring it around 6.08. was doing this for the past year with zero problems until now. That's the only reason I was second guessing this batch of Promix .

Have you checked the runoff ph?

i have no idea what’s in my tap water, the ph., etc, i never ph anything. i let the water sit in pails for a couple days that’s about it.
i try to not get runoff,
just don’t overfeed and try not to overwater.
you don’t want to hear my theories about growing they won’t make sense to ya and i’ll probably get blasted by the farm! haha.,

Have you checked the runoff ph?
Yes my runoff pH when I last flushed then fed for each plant was between 5.8 and 6.0. but when I put a soil pH meter on the pots the top read about 7.5 and the bottom reads about 6.0

Haha ya I was gonna say that's literally the opposite of what I've consistently heard. I work doing chops and trims for guys that have multiple warehouses of rec cannabis here in michigan. They all pH thier water and insist on getting 20% runoff to avoid salt buildup. Yet here I am in the infirmary with sick plants from following those instructions. So hey whatever works 🤷‍♂️

Another thing to add to this mystery:

I usually run two plants in the hallway of the room just for fun, I don't get a ton off them.

These plants have gotten the same feed and treatment as the rest except they were brought into the room a week or so later than the rest. (Still before flipping lights)

They are showing almost ZERO signs of trouble. One of them has two leaves that look badly affected. But only TWO! Where as the rest of my trellaced big plants seem to by dying.

The main difference of these has to be that they're getting far less light being outside of the canopy footprint and just chilling in the hallway. I think backing the lights off more.may be the ticket here to keep these girls from dying.

Little update here:

So I decided to flush half my room heavilly, I put 15 gals through each pot.

The other half of the room I didn't flush and have continued to feed water normally.

I did this because if I could save half the room, and identify what fixed it, that would be worth it.

However the issue has only progressed on all plants. And has now spread to my hallway plants which were looking great before.

Stumped I turned again to my scope and looked closer.

DO I have russet or board mites ???!!!

This would make total sense as I've changed nothing from previous cycles and nothing I've done (flushing , backing off lights, ect) has helped at all.

If this is the case I'm extremely upset with myself for thinking it was a pH or salt issue for the last four weeks only to see now what appears to be eggs on the underside of my leaves.

The issue is I haven't spotted anything that moves with the scope but I've heard the mites hide.

Are these eggs or am I g(r)owing crazy?

i’m not a good pest guy, but in the it’s before this one, you can easily see that your leaves are shiny blistered/bloated, 3 fingered leaves, odd shaped leaves, all a total sign of bad stress,
more than likely pest.
someone will help out,
i’d spray/soak with a 5-8% strength hydrogen peroxide, kill off as many eggs/pest as possible than some sort of treatment if it’s worth it.
