I have 3 plants growing in a 4x4 tent and have discovered that 1 of the plants as bud rot. I dont see mold on it just browning in spots so far. All the ants are basically ready to be harvested. I have not had bud rot before and am just looking g for a dive on how to proceed with drying athe plants
I ant to cut off any bad spots on the affected plant and hope for the best right now but I would like to ow if I should wash the bad plant in h202 etc before hanging and if I should dry that plant separately or does it matter. Also I am wondering if I should wash the buds from the other plants or do anything else to prevent them from getting bud rot during drying. And lastly is it OK to dry these ants in the tent where the bud rot started or does it need to be sanitized first. I could bleach or I do have a ozone machine that I could put in there for a while before drying starts.

Any help is appreciated!

And I will work on humidity control and circulation in future grows. I'm not looking for prevention right now but rather how best to handle the existing situation.

I would trim the infected plant now and examine every bud with scope. Throw away anything with mold.

When inspecting the plants, tug on any fan leaf sticking out of a cola. If the leaf comes out easily, you probably have bud rot in that cola. spread open that cola, right around where you pulled the leaf out, and see if it's rotten.

Bud rot is like an iceberg. You only see 10% on the surface of the buds. Most is inside.

Also, don't grow in the attic of the house I had in NC!

Didn't have much environmental control and when I grew strains that tended to produce large colas, bud rot was a common problem. That's probably how my preference for growing plants to have multiple tops got started.

When you trim you have to break down every bud all the way. When you see rot toss it. The whole bud. Clean your scissors quick with a alcohol wipe. Keep trimming. And dry quick. Like 4 days. And then get rid of it. Not the end of the world. But once you see bud rot. You're trimming. Every hour of delay costs weight.

Agree and want to add use a scope. Sometimes the leaves look okay and all you see is a little white spot almost looks like trichs. On closer look you see tiny white web like hairs. Only time I ever get it is in the center of very dense main colas.

Almost forgot. I do AC and we use inspection dye. And those flashlights with the black light LEDs. With the lights off when you shine that thing on the plants all the PM shows up. It might work for bud rot too. But totally works for PM. So if you have one of the UV flashlights give it a try.

And 100% your biggest nicest colas will be the ones with the rot. That's why bud rot is so annoying. I personally believe it's in the plants genetics to get bud rot.

Agree. Its genetic to the point that a freakiskly dense bud that cant get fresh air in the center will get it, while the looser buds right beside them don't. They all have spores on them but they only hit the very dense ones -thats in my closet anyways. I'm sure if the rh was high enough, they would all rot.

Grew a Blueberry cola nine years ago as big as a pineapple. Had to toss it out.
I feel your pain. Didn't see anything until we trimmed this one.

Yeah. When I see those big tall can sized buds.... I just know...
Right now. With the Pine Tar strain. Year straight. No fungus. No pests. No nothing. Worst thing to happen was some died when it got over 100 F from a heat wave. That's just DWC luck.
Before that I had these awesome Lemon Garlics, Bruce Banners and Chemdawgs. But. They would always have a at least some bud rot. And would always have seeds. Not a lot. It was decent enough smoke. But man. Seed banks just sell whatever. I swear it's all such BS that I will only try seeds while I have a good set of clones of something known good. It's always let me down to buy seeds.
But..... I am growing 3 seeds of Pink Lemonade right now... because I don't learn. If they don't drop seeds or get sick. I'll clone em and introduce them to the scene.

LOL I don't learn too good either. I know I should top the plants and make smaller buds. But I just love giant straight up colas. I bought a dehumidifier, hope it helps.

Me too. My dehumidifier has been running constantly for like 4 weeks now. I have some pretty good size colas on my last indoor plant I have going. Humidity is hovering around 30 - 35%. Fingers crossed for no bud rot.

Yeah you gotta top more and open up those giant donkey dick colas into smaller more manageable ones. Its all airflow issues I used to get it really bad on my outdoor grows before I started topping more aggressively. When you do outdoor you get just a few caterpillars and it compounds the bud rot issue 10 fold its even worse. I understand why people like the giant buds they have better bag appeal people like big nugs but honestly I think that the topped medium sized flowers actually are a bit more potent. When I look at them under the jewelers loop I swear it seems sometimes that crystal on the medium nugs can be greater than on the giant ones. Maybe some of that is strain specific not too sure. Call me crazy but thats an observation I have made.

Most agreeable...donkey buds are eye candy only....not necessarily nugs but keep the buds smaller to reduce issues. Years ago, we used to clip the top of our flowers, like FIMMING...we thought it increased potency as the hormones concentrated to that area. We learned that the cliped buds had less bud rot, other mold issues than the big buds

Hitachi HEPA air filter cleaned every week with A/C and still got mold on 1 really dense bud
