Howdy folks,

I'm a new grower and I just figured I'd introduce myself and check-in with you all. I germinated some seeds out of the bottom of my stash box. I know that they are from seeds that would have been in some medical cannabis I got in either Oklahoma or here in Missouri. I tend to lean heavily on Indicas, or Indica-dominant hybrids. So for one thing, if any of you think you recognize the cultivar I'd love to hear from you! Anyways, I am pretty dang sure they are photoperiods. I have been growing them in Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil. I moved them to 10-gallon, draining planters about 9 days ago and they are a little over 4-weeks old. Today, I went ahead and topped them. They are starting to put out full leaves. Today was the first time I've watered them since they were transplanted. We are on well water out here in the sticks. My tent arrives today, which I'm super excited about! I've taken pictures of my current setup and I'm interested in any and all advice you green thumbs might have. :D

Ps. I'm glad to be here and I look forward to meeting some fellow growers!

Hi medium looks fine
A few curling leaves could be your watering or stress from topping
You need to upgrade them lights
Also get them on a tent to optimum growth
I’m a noob so don’t take everything in stone

Could you be more specific about light upgrades? I have them in a tent now with an in-line duct fan pulling air through a HEPA filter. I did water them at the suggestion of another grower here. It didn't seem to get me anywhere, so I've gotten some recharge and gave both of them a healthy dose near their root clusters. I'm still having trouble finding guidelines on how to water that make sense. Can you give me a For Dummies crash course? lol Also, thank you for replying!

I’ve heard then purple lights are rubbish they won’t carry you till flower however you’re could be a good quality one, or a eBay one

but get your self some full spectrum LEDs 2x600 watts they won’t break the bank
You can CFLs if you wish

there’s plenty of threads in here about watering
Many factors go against you and your watering habit
Pot size
Meduim
Temp etc

there’s a member On here called @Aquaman he has covered it in a sticky
Give it a search it’s something like watering meduim, something like that but a lot of people on here
Go by if the pot feels heavy don’t water then when the pot lightens up water it

blurples are fine to learn on buddy! just keep asking questions and you will be rolling in no time! Fellow MO guy here 👍
Howdy neighbor! So I went ahead and started the return on this light. I looked through some reviews and it seemed like a good move. I got it as like a prime day deal on impulse anyway. I've got two Mars Hydro ts600's on the way.

If you can handle the temps get a 450watt cfl if not a 200 will do

I wouldn't be able to handle that many btu's in this room. A longer-term goal is to install a one-ton mini-split and fix the insulation in the room I'm using now. There's going to be a whole lot of production in this room at some point. I'm growing mushrooms outdoors while the weather permits, but eventually, I'm going to have to have a setup inside where conditions are easier to control (and for winter). We're also using this room for exotic plant starts and microgreens. The upgrade will be inevitable! It means that I'll have to update the electrical though. I'm not ready to burn my house down lol Insurance hasn't been in my name long enough 😜

Just a quick update! I've figured out watering (just a little water shows in the drain pan) and I've been using an aerated combination of liquid dirt, Recharge, and fish emulsion. I've been adjusting PH of my water for every watering. I have been using some wire to low-stress train both plants and pruning. I'm putting up netting tomorrow!

Hi MO
These were grown with 7 blurples 992 Watts direct draw (1972 W advertised, yea right!!!) Mars Hydro, Vivosun, Bloomspect, & 4x4 tent, fan push / pull exhaust only ( have 6” carbon filter, but MO. legal & like the smell so don’t use it currently)

Results: Top & bottom auto GSC & middle Auto Tangiematic.
GSC buzz excellent, my go to accept for some Black African Magic photos on the agenda.
Better lights out there yep you bet, but bgt these cheap & decided to run em dead…

MO make sure to test test test your PH, it was 90% of my problem. Here in Wildwood MO city H2O is ph 9.5–10
I didn’t realize it because a friend of mine told me our water was perfect for growing (6-6.5 or up for discussion 5.6–6.8) the only thing I didn’t pay attention to is he only grows regular house plant…da !?!
Now I treat my water with PH down ( I’m about 6 now) and let it sit for two days for chlorine dissipate. I fill several 5 gal for reserve or in case I forget…😱
I water every 3-4 days (( I am the full cup kind of water guy saturating the pot well
& H2O again using dry knuckle test-when the top is dry up to my pinky knuckle I water again, And yes some strains vary watch for droopy leave))
3 Gal fabric pots from 247garden.com excellent prices & selection— I am switching over to 4 gallon square fabric pots for my photos.
Like u I am fairly new at this, since our wonderful voters here in the show me state voted to legalize medical cannabis controlled by the people for the people.
((because our politicians sure the hell didn’t do it)) !

I also use yellow pest strips for soil nats, we have them in the house because of my wife’s house plants in our atrium.
The strips knock them dead…
My new upgrades are a small dehumidifier and humidifier, because I want to control my environment more with the African rain forest strain… Super high humidity for veg phase & Controlled 35/40% for flower stage…
I will be adjusting my exhaust and intake system as well by keeping Fresh Air in the same and reducing my exhaust that’s helping to control higher humidity/heat and keeping my heat up 82-86f, just trying to replicate its original environment…
((but with that said like you I am fairly new at this and I’m sure there are some posters here who may tell me I’m wasting my time because the strain is most likely adapted now to stateside conditions grow rooms etc, so I guess that may be a question to any real experienced growers reading this ? ))

Have fun

That's awesome! Thanks for the heads up on the strips. I'm having issues with gnats for sure. I am definitely considering more automation in the future. I love that MO voters took the plunge, but we need to be a rec state! It'll be great not to have to deal with any of the bureaucrats as a small-scale home grower.
