I know this is a topic that I’ve seen on here a lot so please bear with me on it. Posting this because I need a friend to see responses to our specific situation

We currently have our outdoor grow set up in a field shared with the landowner/close friend. Their plants and grow are separate but shared by a field. Due to extreme environmental stress, over half of their plants have hermied. We explained the situation to them and that the plants need to go as it jeopardizes all of the other plants in the whole field. Our suggestion is of course to get rid of the plants. However, they did a quick Google search and found one suggestion to cutting off all the ‘male sex organs’ preventing them from pollinating and is now bound and determined to take that course of action. Our thoughts are why go through all the trouble and risk leaving any behind (if it even works) to jeopardize all the plants just to save the little bit seedy weed he’d get.
Any and all advice welcome

One of the many responsibilities you take on when you grow outdoors is to destroy or securely isolate male plants. They aren’t just risking your plants, but anyone else’s within a mile radius probably. Wind, birds, all flying insects can transport that stuff long distances. Maybe you Should start looking around for better friends that are willing to accept growing responsibly. Not these scumbags!

those are some strange looking plants, to be honest I don't see anything I recognize as pollen sacks, I do see the weird looking growth, but can't really tell what it is - also strange seeing several leaves that aren't serrated...

I don't know what the situation is - and it doesn't sound like you have much leverage if it's not your land (or rented?)

I also don't know how many plants we're talking... but trying to snip off all the male organs will likely become a huge task - requiring daily attention... I believe there is a 'spectrum' of hermaphroditism - and while this is viable for some plants (e.g. cookies) - others that go 'full hermie' will not be worth the work...

Maybe you offer him a few of your plants as 'compensation' ...

Those do look like weird plants. I also see no male flowers at all — or female, for that matter.

What do they plan on cutting off?

I have seen this before on some clones that decided to go to bud, but the owner was able to pull them back into veg. They had the same leaves as this. What strain in this?

I’m with ya there for sure and it’s not that he’s a scumbag he’s just stubborn. Very stubborn. But I do agree that when it comes to growing there are certain standards to grow by and even if you’re not 100% sure it’s fucked if there’s even the slightest bit of doubt it’s just better to pull it out and toss it vs taking a chance

Definitely haven’t noticed any “nanners” or sacs yet but we’re pretty sure they’re fucked. I’ve seen my fair share of plants during all their stages of growth and I’ve never seen any that look like some of his and I know that they experienced just about every kind of environmental stress one could think of so it wouldn’t be a shock if they did hermi. I think he just wants to be able to see his grow thru and see what happens which I can respect but at the same time makes me super nervous knowing that it could potentially really mess things up

That’s his argument for not pulling them right away is that there’s no proof that they have or will hermi

There’s a few strains in his mix. I can get specifics next time I’m out there but I know Dirty Little Slut is one of em. They are all clones and he did say they all looked beat to shit when he went to get em and that the ones he did bring home were the best looking ones

Pollen has been known to travel up to 20 miles and breed every plant on the way. A friend lost his entire grow to a hemp field going to pollen, 20 miles away.

That is wild. I knew it could go some distance but I woulda thought 20 miles away would be more than in the clear. My condolences to your buddy and his loss

Some kinda weird reveg? Not really lookin hermie. I’m with dude on this one. Keep a close eye on them.

A friend from another forum. He's a breeder and he lost 50 new plants of a strain he's was working on.

Ouch! It happens a lot in housing tracks. Jughead decides to wait and see and the result is Betty, Veronica’s, and Archie’s Plants all get seeded.I shouldn’t have ranted like that. I apologize PMR.It sounds like you’ll do the right thing!

Not a pretty picture. We need to fix that idea in the culture now before some lolo wipes out half a county with a yard full of males.
"Always destroy male cannabis unless you are a breeder." No, not fair, but far safer.

Accidental splash of poison on said hermis perhaps😂

Plants in the pics are Reveging and extremely overwatered.
Let them dry out and get ready for the long haul. It will take a while to get back to square one.

I've hear of some serious consequences for people who got accused of having pollen on their clothes. You don't save outdoor herms. You burn them. Offer him some of your sensimilia in exchange for him removing his herms. So he has smoke too.
