This forum has been a great resource for me already and I have confidence you guys will help me with a successful first grow. Thanks in advance for checking out my grow and any assistance.

Things are progressing and the girls have moved to their home.

On a 16-8 cycle currently reading 200ish PPFD on the Photone IPhone app. I hope the app is consistent.

Temp 74
RH 63
Water Temp 77.2
PH 6.1
PPM 190

Running H202

I plan on keeping PH in the 5.8-6.2 range.

Well, I done did it... As I did it I knew I was doing and did it anyways. I overmothered one of my plants. Was trying to adjust the hydroton around it for extra support and broke the stem clean in half.

Lesson learned. I have another bean popping and will get to see what a difference a week of veg can make in the end I guess.

Bummer! I feel your pain as I find it near impossible to not mess around in the garden on a daily basis. Patience is a virtue and something I am finding is in short supply with me. Here is to learning from mistakes and keeping our fat fingers out of nature’s way. Cheers to a fallen comrade! 🍻

So after I posted earlier I decided to pop a second new bean as well just to be on the safe side. Will debate what will get culled in a week or so.

Yeah, it got the best of me today,

She gave her life for a cause and it won't be forgotten; we will endure for her.

Doh! Sorry about your girl. Good attitude though... lesson learned and moving on. 👍

That's life,. Going to learn a lot of ways to not fail.

You did a great job! And RIP for the little baby you just killed... 😁

Thanks! We will remember her when we first put fire to her cousins.

Kosher

She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes
And I knew, without askin', she was into the blues
She wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls
I knew right away she was not like other girls

Not tons to report on. The two beans I started yesterday are showing some tap roots.

I am going to sleep on it tonight and see what we look like in the morning. Hoping some of the local experts can chime in.

Hey man, how is she looking today?

I made a thread. It hasn’t progressed tons but I know things can change quick in hydro. At amusement park with my son right now but will be addressing tonight around 7 EST after my night cycle.

I just spotted that thread, hope you get some good info. And yeah, the primary reason I'm doing the organic soil grow is because the speed at which things can go wrong with everything else terrifies me. And here you are starting with a DIY hydro setup... the balls on this guy.

Btw, I noticed we're growing with the same light, ROI-E680. My buddy loaned me of of these Apogee meters so presumably I'm getting some pretty accurate measurements. If light really is the issue let me know if you want me to take a few readings at a specific distance from the R680. Might at least help you rule out an issue or two. Only caveat is that I'm using the Grower's Choice Master Controller for my light settings. Not sure if that makes a diff.

Master Controller shouldn't make a ton of difference except you have much better control over the intensity. I have considered it for one of my upgrades down the line.

Funny thing is my buddy actually does lighting for film and owns a lighting rental house. I was gonna ask him what he has for me to borrow to do some serious testing with. I have been using the Iphone Phontone app. Who knows how accurate it is but as long as it gives consistent measurements I should be ok.

Awesome, its always nice to have good friends with cool toys, and it would be far better to test on your own setup anyway. If you need any ball park measurements let me know.

Look at that beauty. What a difference.
Just to be clear, that isn't the one that got sunburned. That one is healing up and starting to put on some size. The seedling that is a week behind is looking good as well. Hopefully will be ready to kick the training wheels off soon.
