i’m using the leaves from trimming buds etc, put it in jars, put everything in the freezer including the isopropyl left in there for 18 hrs.
got two bowls and a strainer (fine tight mesh the better), and oven mitts as the jars will be freezing.

when ready i poured the isopropyl just above weed level and than shook vigorously for 2:30-3:00 as i want more of a hash/honey oil (qwiso) (to make rso oil than no need to freeze and just let weed and isopropyl sit together for a hour or a day)
than i take the mix and pour it through the strainer into the bowls.

than get a couple clean jars to strain the that mix through, the first pass i use cheese cloth folded 5/6 times than pour mix through (i use a cup to scoop out of bowls, i let bowls sit for an hour at least for all the crap to settle at the bottom first.

than again with clean jars i filter this time with 2-3 coffee filters together, again after letting it sit for any dirt to settle, than pour through filters, i’m so good 😆 that one pass through and it’s pure clean and ready for cooking.

than ( i use my sunroom, Airflow!!) set up a rice cooker with a fan blowing directly at it out the window and start cooking off the isopropyl all the way till the bubbling stops.

as it gets closer to finishing i tip up one end and have a silicone spatula to push oil back into mix as some will stick

once done cooking than have containers ready and pour into, i use these silicone ones as they will fit on my coffee warmer to burn off remaining isopropyl fumes and it’s easy to pour into glass viles.

one thing as the oil is cooking and getting near done it’s common for rice cookers to shut down to warm so i use to hold the button down and let up but kept burning out the rice cookers so tired of that i took out the fuse and replaced with a good gauge of wire so i can control the rice cooker till oil is finished and that has been working great since!.

another tip and i’m sure there will be more..
all the weed and cheese cloth and coffee filters, whatever goes into the garbage i’ll run it under hot water until the smell is gone first than dispose

Ever worry about the alcohol igniting?
no, sure no smoking around a five gallon pail, haha..
when cooking isopropyl in a rice cooker the danger part is no airflow/wind as the fumes would rise up from the bowl and drift down the sides and ignite from underneath the rice cooker as the fumes are heavy than the air..

Was a serious question. I have some rice cookers around and might want try and make oil. Just would worry about doing a Richard Pryer impersonation.

my first time was like a high security lab! haha..
the more you do it the better you refine your process.. so start out with so so stuff..
when cooking it off the fumes smell so i usually do late at night or during a storm to mask the odour..

I put water in the rice cooker pan and put a stainless pan with the oil in the main pan of water. It will stay on high, but you might need too add water every so often.

I have also seen people spread it real thin and let the sun do it’s thing it takes a good week in the hot sun for the alcohol to evaporate only thing is it tastes a bit like stale beer 😂 rice cooker method way better gets rid of all residual alcohol do you use a carrier oil to thin out your rso Gnick or just have it as it is? Btw your outdoor plants look awesome man👍

i did it!!!

i started small. just a pint jar and i didnt have iso, so i used everclear. but i did order some iso on amazon! next time ill be set!

I ended up with a sticky blob, not like what you have, but ill get there.

I rolled with some and it definitely worked!!!

ok, if i want it a touch more runny than i just let the mix react a few minutes longer to extract more plant waxes though the oil will be more darker cause of the chlorophyll..
with iso, the weed being in freezer, the iso will remove the trichomes/resin first than the longer the mix is allowed to react it’ll start to extract the plant waxes and chlorophyll.
i usually do a 3-5 min vigorous shake..

to eat it just freeze the oil in 1-2 gram silicone containers and put in freezer than when you want it, popped it out of the container and swallow frozen..

I use this method, should but ceramics in the bottom and watch it close because wen it gets down to about 80% it will start burning your honey up. Worked great during the pandemic when you couldn't find any alcohol. Distilled some cheap vodka through it first and got some hi proof alcohol out of it.

We use Lou Ann cooking coconut oil or MCT oil to cut it into a tincture. 1 gram to 2 oz. We also set the alcohol out in the sun for 2-3 hours to break up the green chlorophyll color before putting it into a water distiller to evaporate and reclaim the alcohol.

We wash once for 2 min than re-freeze for a total of three washes each one poured in a separate bowl.

First wash gets the clear young trichomes, second gets the milky white, third wash gets the thc-n and cbdn.

Take some of the 3rd washed oil and nighty night.

Its all cut .5 to 1 gram per 2oz oil for medical card holders. First wash is good for morning and daytime use, second wash oil for evening and 3rd wash oil is the hammer that puts you down for the night.

not sure about this? sounds like a waste of time., all trichomes are removed first before the alcohol removed waxes and chlorophyll etc.
separate trichomes by length of wash? no is my opinion.
