Hello,

New novice grower here from VA. I'm taking advantage of the new laws and attempting to cultivate my household limit. Good news is my brother has been growing outdoors for years so I got a little head start this year. Also, trying a couple in doors. Bad news - this is a stressful pursuit! I have one flowering outside but I'm fighting the elements, pests and my own inexperience. My indoor plants have gotten off to a slow start which I think is due to overwatering. Needless to say I'm learning something new every day. And this community has helped a whole bunch in just the last 24 hours. I'm sure I will be looking for advice in the not too distant future. Thanks in advance!

Hey JP, welcome to the Farm. You probably won't find this surprising but there are quite a few new VA growers here, myself included. Have any pics to share? Maybe consider starting a grow diary so I can stalk ... I mean follow along with your grow. 😁 👍

OK, Schwer - I am kind of embarrassed to share because of all the issues I'M LEARNING about but here goes. Maybe I can get some advice from the experts on how to get the outside one all the way to harvest. I'm fighting aphids or thrips, maybe nutrient issues and the climate. The indoor plants are off to a slow start due to overwatering and light placement I think after reading through a bunch of posts here.

Thanks!

Yay for pics, and zero need to be embarrassed by them. If everyone here was an expert grower we wouldn't need the forum, and I would be denied entry, heh. Sadly I'm not qualified to help you out but there many here who can.

BTW, I have a second plant outside next to the one above. It hasn't started flowering yet. It has a couple of yellowing leaves but seemingly no pests.

JP, you may want to check out the Cannabis Infirmary section as well. Stickies in particular. If you don't get the traction you need here you may benefit from making a new thread there with some additional info. Good luck, man.

New grower from Va also, don't be embarrassed about those pics. Do they have some issues, yes, but from what ive observed everyone does its just how good/quick your response is that makes the difference

the new law in VA is only 4 plants per household, and only two "in the mature" stage and two "in the immature" stage. they fail to define those terms, but i would assume veg and flowering are the "immature and mature" stages they mean.

i live a stones throw from VA in TN... we will get legal marijuana on... never/never/two thousand never! they still havent reversed the ... erm... uhm... "chicken law" here. it is illegal in all 95 of the counties for a woman to open a door... EVER. (almost just kidding... almost)

love the pictures! never shy away from posting pictures!

along with the pictures we like details! how old, weeks "flipped" and the like. let us know your soil or other medium for the girls. watering! everyone here will want to know all about the water (how much, how often, how pH-ified, or if it has any visible tattoos). do you feed her anything, how much and how often and probably the minutia about order and pHing and all that stuff.

the environment is good to let us know, what light at what setting and how close to the canopy. humidity and temp are also important (we are nosy enough to want to know it all!)

but seriously, any info you can give will help us help you.

first, for the most part ^5 (high 5)! lookin' goooood.

when you start your girls in the solo cup, fill it up. if you start with a half a cup of dirt you took away half of their roots home. the biggest job they have in the first couple weeks is to make some great roots, and you giving it the best environment for that is important.

without more details, i cant help much, but i can tell you the most important thing to learn is how to water your girls properly. i like the weight method (grab both sides, lift - just tug a bit - if it is light like it has sawdust water it, if not dont. but there are many threads here on the topic, i will post my favorite:

watering how media pot size shape and environment affect it

the next bit i encourage you to read is on pH, if you stick around here you will see EVERYONE puts lots of stock in pHing, i found this very helpful on that subject:

ph a basic explanation

good luck! looking like a great start for you!!!

keep the pics coming!

Early versions of the bill had the two mature plant language but it was removed from the bill that passed. VA has four plants total.

Welcome to the farm. Don't feel embarrassed, everyone starts at the same place on every journey. Plenty of good help here. Read plenty and pay it forward.

@jpcville
Welcome !!!!
I think VA has enough of us on here to start our own forum !!!
The plant outside looks good, nice buds!
Our outdoor environment is not the best, especially in those Cville hills, hot and humid.
Curious did the one outside start outside or was it moved out after flowering?
