flush down to below 1.4 ec at least.

Frustration mounts, my meter is suspect. Run off results are PH5.66, PPM 636, now the problem? My meter in the EC mode shows a value of 1348. There is no decimal point that I could see.

Any thoughts? If I go by PPM did I accomplish what you were advising?

you are about 1.4. 1.348 ec to be exact. And ppms are half ec so 600ppm is 1.2 ec or 1200 ec. Some meters show the decimal place. It’s just metrics. Ph is still a little low but may correct itself without the nutrient buildup.

all you do next is wait to see improvement. Old damage will likely stay damaged.

You can kind of see when they are happy compared to sick. They glow some and look better despite the damage to me.

After reading this a couple of times, I think I'm starting to see the light,

@MIMedGrower your and Aquamans back and forth has turned a light on for me.

Please let me know if my thinking bellow is right?

1. I thought I could influence soil PH with water/feed PH.
2. I wasn't watering/feeding to run off and this lead to build up that was influencing soil Ph.
3. Using TBL, tsp to measure nutes instead of making solution using ppm and not checking ppm value of runoff.
4. Blindly adding cal/mag supplement, further complicating nute lockout?

I do wonder if I should add some calcitic lime if my runoff PH shows low at next feed?

Looks like DE and Perlite applied to surface has stopped gnats, guess I can throw Mosquito bits in trash. Next grow starts with perlite top and bottom, simple and effective. Love it!

I need someone to hold my hand and tell me if you think I'm going to be able to bring this girl to a successful harvest? I'm on week 8 and I have another 3 to 4 weeks according to what I've read of Sour D.

You aren’t going to change ph with tap water. The ph is likely low because of too much nutrients buildup. If the soil has lime it will return the ph to normal by itself. It’s all you said that’s wrong. Flushing like you did and patience is all you can do.

Unless you didn’t really flush enough out. Sometimes the salts stay stuck in the medium without a lot of water poured through.

I need some clarification, my run off PH remains at 5.6. Which is within what Promix says it should be ( 5.2-5.8 ). So this should be where I need to be right? Considering soiless should fall within 5.5 to 6.5 according to this chart,

1618801493544

What I'm asking is if this soil PH being in range is good for nute uptake? Everything looks to be good at 5.6 except of course cal/mag. I dont know if there is anything I can do for this grow, but for my next which is already started, how could I raise soil PH a couple of tenths. Like to 5.8 or even a little higher?

Anywhoo, I resumed feeding today. I gave three gallons of ro/nute solution 18ml of Gh flora micro and 36ml of flora bloom. After adding nutes I checked PPM and was 660, I then checked PH and it was 4.9, went ahead and adjusted to 6.3.

My run off numbers where PPM - 1140 and PH - 5.6.

Looks like the finish line is getting close, a good amount of pistils are turning red. Just wrapped up week 8 so by the numbers she is supposed to be an 11 week strain. I think I can nurse her along for another three weeks.

A new problem, I think.

A couple of pics with what I think is light burn? Growth in the center and shaded seem like there is no problem at all. But where light is strongest/brightest I have continued yellowing.

Light was at 13", now at 20".

Do the upper parts of the plant curl down at all?
No I cant say that it does. I have some bigger buds that grow at 90 degrees from most of the other growth but nothing turning down. I do have many leaning, thinks its the weight of the buds doing that. Probably weak stems?

Ive noticed in some plants i see on here and other sites the tops curl down if ppms are high...my thinking is tops are getting salted snd water transportation isnt penetrating the tops enough....so they curl down? Just an idea!

Maybe it doesn't matter at this point of this grow, but I'd still like a little more input.

Question is why is lower shaded growth not yellowing as the tops are? Got to be light right?

Plant health plain and simple. If a plant is healthy it can use more light.

I'd say it a combination of stress, nutrient imbalance, tox and lockout that's causing it to tolerate less light.

Things like sulfur and iron will also show yellowing in new growth.

Imo there is not one cause here but many.

Watering practices can muck with a leaf's color as well. Too much, too little will cause yellowing...mostly itll look like that yellowing on the leaf of the third pic up from the bottom. if you see the yellowing mid leaf in the bottom right corner...that could be over/under watering if you see it on the bottom of the plant...in that pic it seems to be mid plant...not sure if thats bad watering practices......it kind of does that...not saying that is the direct cause here......i have seen that alot...lol....my tomatoes will get like that if a lot of rain hits....

Thanks guy's. Ya watering has been my biggest problem. I was afraid to water to runoff because she stayed wet for so long. Watering to runoff for the past month has improved plant some but I hate having this plant wet for a whole week.

My next grow is started. I'm using Sunshine#4 this time and am considering mixing it 50/50 with perlite. The promix I bought at walmart, first of all was filled with gnats and held water for to long I think. My third will likely be in coco.

I've learned a lot my next will be a bumper crop.

How close is your light to top of canopy?
Your name, Gammagoat, six wheel drive amphibious vehicle (with trailer plugged in to tractor driveshaft). I had one as an Army medic back in 70s in Germany. We used them as field ambulances. They weren’t very amphibious and sunk quite easily!

I've got a 6 wheeled amphibious vehicle up in the woods, if the methheads haven't stolen it yet. Hope it's still there, haven't been up there this year.

Let me fill in some blanks while we wait.

I had been under watering, so was advised to water to run off. I was also advised to start a water/feed schedule to help with salts build up. I have been using pot lift method so it takes about 7 days for bucket to become "feather light". I've been using full nutes according to the FF schedule. Prior to this I was watering and feeding twice a week at about 2/3rds nute strength.

As for cal/mag I've followed what the bottle says, 1tps per gallon. Which I give whether it water only or feed.
The feeding charts on the products are the most you can feed your plants without killing them outright. That should cut in half from the start.
What are your ppm's in and out?
