Just checking in. Once again I am going to have some problems supporting these tall branches. Happy growing to all View attachment 1158683
That is a "problem" I like having. It isnt happening this season however.

I seen some very effective netting systems in humbolt. Thought out before putting plants in the earth not to damage root systems later on. Have large modular cube shaped frames on place ready in place to fully enclose them by drape mesh netting over them. That will support as many branches as the plants can throw out.

2x2 construction grade studding will suffice for framing but pvc piping is much better. And it will far outlast wood. And it won't twist and go screwy from weather. Glued and screwed pvc pipe with a modular concept has far more advantages. so it can be taken apart and adjust as needed. By simply adding / removing different lengths.

I suppose it wouldn't be difficult to rig something up that late in it. Instead of staking the frames to secure it sand bagging it will be root friendly.

I learned with experience its much less headache having something all ready before the plants even meet the earth.

Looking good there bro, props.

My couple could be doing better. I failed to include silica this grow and sure enough powder mildew is starting to take advantage. I notice very sporatic touches of the pm here and there.

I'm 100% convinced along with other mechanisms (first and foremost maintaining the best possible plant health) the silica gives marijuana that extra edge defending against powder mildew.

I introduced it to my gardening a few years ago. Through 6 full grows I didn't seen a single trace of the mildew anywhere. I knew better so I have no one to blame but myself.

The humidity has been relentless every other week this year. Combined with the typical usual rain you can say I almost seen it coming. There is only a tiny amount of obvious traces. I cut thise out.

Hopefully it won't get too ugly and the humidity clears once and for all. Growing conditions here are otherwise usuall pretty optimum in my location. Its one of those things when nature decided to throw a curve ball my way. I won't try to fight he stuff once it gets a foot hold. Its a losing battle imho. Best you can do is cut out what appears and save yourself a bunch of stress and screwing around for nothing. I tried everything to get rid of PM in the past. Even went so far as to completely tent the plants inside plastic so I could bomb them with Sulphur burner. 300 bucks later the PM was still progressing.

Along with maintaining the best optimum plant health possible so it can defend itself from such invaders. Silica supplement/ additive is the xtra insurance. Its one of those elements thats easily over looked and there isnt a lot of in typical soils. Its essential element that should be included anyway. For optimum health + it makes branches much stronger and able to take strong wind and support fatter nugs. Dammit and dammit. This one hurt a little bit to type LOL

learn as they say.

wish i could grow pineapple outside in my climate zone. So do you just cut the top off and replant? I think i might try it out in a window.

I twist the top off then peel back leaves to expose rings/root nubs then put them in a jar of water that I change out every few days. Once I see roots develop, I put in pots with 70-30 Coco-Perlite

Been a rough season in ohio this year. Bugs and slugs have been making it rough, but so far we're looking ok. Any thoughts on what I can do for improvment?? Lmk
Copper bands around pots or plain old Slugg-O works. You can also use Slug saloons or beer traps. As for bugs, beneficial insects help as with planting crops around that attract predator insects, like Fennel bulb attracts predator wasps that prey on caterpillars. Beneficial nematodes also help as well

double grape. Temps dropped last week and she started to go purple. Someone stole my bike the night before so I made the decision to being them in at night.

another double grapes. Had a small worm issue and she had some bud rot. Chopped it well off and she's recently been washed and hung. Too much rain coming and I know she wouldnt make it.

this is Toof Decay. Rough go from the start with my daughter ripping her right out of the pot from sprout and my dog knocking her out of the pot a week later. Super impressed I got her to finish.

All of these got washed and chopped last night.

So i did a thing today. Leaving Thursday for a week so i picked up a timer and 50’ garden hose, threaded thru the girls, drilled 1/4” holes and set the timer for daily 5 minute trickles at 5:30 and 2:00. Also learned that grow bags will root in soil, its a good thing.
